Hayley and Josh are 2 of the most wonderful singers in the world. I think it's about time they do a duet together. Even if Josh isn't your favorite, just think of how famous Josh is, particularly in America. Josh Groban's fans would hear about their duet, and possibly become new Hayley fans!
I'd love it if they sang a wonderful, new song, but I'd also like to hear them sing "Time to Say Goodbye" together. I know Hayley already sang it with Russell Watson, but Josh has never done it before, and I wouldn't want to hear anyone other than Hayley sing it with him! And I like Josh's voice better! Or maybe "All I Ask of You". They've both sung it before, but Hayley sounds better than Sarah Brightman, and Josh Groban is far better than whoever sang it with Hayley on that YouTube video, or on her album! So, they need to sing it with each other!

I don't really like Josh voice but for sure it would be great for Hayley to do a duet with him, especially for his fame in the USA.

Gosh ! I always fancy this idea . :> :> :> It seems odd to me that Hayley has yet to conquer the USA market , or at least establish herself in the US market on the same level as say like Shakira . Given her talent, it should have been a cake-job for her. If a duet with Josh Groban could help , I am all for it , though I don't really like his voice. Another idea that I wish to share is that maybe Hayley could try to produce a CD with 100% country music in it and try to follow the footsteps of artists like Dolly Parton and Crystal Gayle . If ever she could break into the COUNTRY chart , that would at least help her gain a niche market edge in US soil.

Thanks for all your votes so far! I am a little surprised, though, at how many of you say you don't like Josh Groban. You're certainly entitled to your opinions, of course. Just out of curiosity, what about his voice don't you like? Have you really heard very many of his songs? I think the songs that best showcase his incredible voice are "O Holy Night", "Remember when it Rained", "Un Giorno Per Noi", "Remember" from Troy", "You Raise Me Up", "You Are Loved (Don't Give Up)", and "To Where You Are". And then there's his Christmas album! To me, Josh's voice is the most perfect, pure, powerful male voice I've ever heard. Especially at the beginnings of YRMU, O Holy Night, and You Are loved, the deepness and purity in his voice is so perfect and moving, that I can't comprehend that anyone who hears it doesn't like it! Besides his voice, he has really good songs on his albums, including ones he's written. Many other male classical singers I've heard have harsh, unpleasant voices, including that Mario guy Hayley dueted with. To me, it's not worth listening to his voice just to hear Hayley sing a few lovely notes. That's why I don't care for Il Divo, either. But I do appreciate all your votes for the duet, in spite of your lack of interest in Josh as a singer.

I would like Hayley to perform at least one duet with Groban, but it would have to be one where his overpowering voice doesn't drown her out. This is most likely to happen in the recording studio where sound levels can be adjusted. Onstage, in live performance, such a duet could prove disastrous, with Josh blaring out in his trademark louder-than-loud delivery style to Hayley's softer, sweeter warblings.

Hi Steve, Methinks you underestimate the power of Hayley's voice It can be as "Soft as the voice of an Angel" but it can also deliver the decibels without sounding strained when Hayley wants to.

Hi Steve, Methinks you underestimate the power of Hayley's voice It can be as "Soft as the voice of an Angel" but it can also deliver the decibels without sounding strained when Hayley wants to. I think Steve has a valid point here - Groban can approach Teddy Tahu Rhodes in vocal power when he wants too - and this was the one drawback I have found with that duet. Admittedly I am at a disadvantage here because I havent heard Hayley sing live - but if she really has that much power, the people mixing her voice in the studio clearly are incompetant at times. I look askance at singers who use power merely because they can, but there is no question that the ability to generate it at will does produce a much greater and more distinctive variance in the vocal dynamic of an individual song. If you go to You Tube you will see that the lack of perceived interpretive strength is still the main drawback that the mainstream audience finds in Hayley - and in my opinion this is almost totally because the audience is expecting a vocal dynamic that isnt there. One example of this I have personally noted is "A Boy Like That" on WSS. When Hayley comes in singing "Oh No Anita..." there is supposed to be genuine passion there - a burst of raw power would produce that effect nicely among a greater number of listeners I think. What I noticed instead was that Anita had more power - which is not a good thing if Maria is supposed to win the argument. Her recording repertoire is littered with examples of this in my opinion. I need to repeat that I am not talking about the power for powers sake screamers - but simply the ability to use it at need to create a greater vocal variation. It is a simple fact of human nature that we tend speak in louder voices when our emotions are involved (except for the very intimate) - a discussion of which I may get into at some point on one of the "nature of music" threads. This leads to three possible logical conclusions (assuming of course that the premises are valid - and also assuming she wants more mainstream appeal): 1. Hayley really has power, but has no idea how to use it. 2. Hayley really has power, but her sound mixers dont know how to use it. 3. Hayley and her engineers are doing the best they can with what they have. Getting back on topic I would like to see such a duet as well - not so much because I expect a great artistic breakthrough - but it does have the appeal of exposing Hayley to a very wide possible audience. I like some of what he does more than other things - but as I now have three albums, I guess that makes me a fan now. I personally found his Ave Maria on Noel to be simply outstanding - there is also a live version of Imagine which is much softer and more contemplative which I also found very enjoyable. Jon

While I'm certain I'd never regret a nice Hayley and Groban duet There is always the fear That two voices so clear Would soon shatter my fine china set!

My thoughts on this subject - to wit: Were Hayley to belt just a bit Their voices so clear That they break chandoliers Could result in a really big hit!

Well, I don't want their duet to only be some obscure live performance only found on Youtube, or something; it needs to be recorded for one or both of their albums.
Josh has performed with Charlotte Church live before, and he doesn't drown her out. He also doesn't drown out Celine Dion, Angie Stone, etc. Most duets have separate parts for each singer to sing, anyway. Teddy Tahu Rhodes didn't drown Hayley out, although I wasn't particularly fond of his voice. Hayley's voice is powerful in "How Many Stars?", and she certainly stands out, despite the loud, deep voice of her duet partner.
