Many of the top performers in the music industry have a “signature” tune. That is, a song that you instantly associate with that artiste and provide an “identity”, even many years later.
Some examples that come to mind are “Satisfaction” from the Stones, “Your Song” from Elton, “Hotel California” from the Eagles and so on…..
Even though Hayley is barely five years into her professional career what song would you describe as her signature tune?
Let me start by suggesting “May It Be”.

May it be? Thats a good choice, but maybe Abide with me or Pokarekare Ana? Abide with me sticks out with a lot of people.

Hi Martin,
Thank you for introducing an interesting topic. I think the song that most fans will consider to be Hayley signature tune will depend on the date they first knew her. Those who heard her in 2005 will pick something from Pure. Those who only discovered her later will choose something from Odyssey or Treasure.
Another factor would be the song that she performs most frequently. Over the past four years, that has undoubtedly been Pokarekare Ana. As that was the first song I ever heard, I will forever associate its melody with her and vice versa.
If Hayley were asked to choose, I am fairly confident that she would name Pokarekare Ana but Hine e Hine could come a close second.

Martin Unquestionably, Martin, Pokarekara Ana. Others may well follow on as close run-ups but the one that I think will always be associated with Hayley as HER song must surely be Pokareka Ana. First song I heard was Pokarekare Ana too. It might as well be her "signature" song and she made New Zealand stand out with it. New Zealands "unofficial" national anthem.
You will always remeber New Zealand and Hayley when you hear this song. She put New Zealand on the map with it, I think.

Hi Davemcc,
Yes, the does put NZ on the map with Pokarekare Ana and I think it is worth mentioning that that is important to her. For that reason alone, I believe Hayley would be very pleased it Pokarekare Ana was thought of as her signature tune.

When I saw the title of this thread I immediately thought 'Pokarekare Ana' Then I went to 'May It Be' because she seems to be singing that a lot lately (definately not a bad thing - it's a gorgeous song!). If I had to choose I would still go with 'Pokarekare Ana'

I think I would vote for PA as well - having said this, it does come to mind that for the past year or so, Hayley has probably sung Scarbourough Fair more than any other piece. Jon

I second that, Jon. My vote would definitely go to Pokarekare Ana although Scarborough Fair has also become a favourite.

Scarborough Fair would be a good contender except for one thing. It will forever be associated with Simon and Garfunkel. Therefore, although it is a wonderful choice for inclusion on Treasure, I doubt if would would be generally accepted by most fans as Hayley's signiture tune.

I would agree that Scarbrough Fair is more associated with Simon adn Garfunkel. When I was playing Hayleys version, people around who heard it, thought of Simon and Garfunkel straight away.

It would be great if Hayley could have a "signature tune" of her own. Something she wrote. Like "Let me Lie"? But she hasn't sung it live enough yet...

For me it would have to be Pokarekare Ana without a doubt!

Hayley already has a defacto signature tune. It's Pokarekare Ana, of course. Few would deny that hers are the definitive versions Cheers, Dave.
