This is a thread were I put Hayley into fantastic situations.
Brisim’s roads were of the cobbled variety, the buildings old fashioned - at first glance a quaint looking and rather narrow village. It was quiet too; Harry and Snape slowly walked down these roads, acting cautiously, the villages staying in their homes. Harry caught a glimpse of one - a small round shaped face wearing a delightful looking top hat. They were not used to strangers.
“What does this guardian look like?” Harry quizzed Snape. “Well, it not your conventional looking guardian.” Snape muttered in an cryptic tone. Harry was still curious however. “And will it be happy to give us the Mizar crystal?” Snape gave a sigh. “Stop asking questions!” Harry and Snape suddenly stopped. “Ah, the guardian!” Harry was sure that Snape just said “the guardian”, but he had his doubts, has in front of him was something very small and scaly, with fins, a wide mouth and big eyes which were currently closed. “It’s a fish!” Harry said with a dumfounded expression on his face. “Show some respect Mr Potter, that’s the guardian your talking about!”. But indeed it was a fish; no ordinary fish mind you, ‘tropical’ being the best way to describe it. Its scales were multi coloured, its fins appeared bigger than an ordinary fish, but the strangest thing of all - and Harry has seen some pretty strange things - was the fact that it was just floating there - in mid-air!
Snape took out his wand, and began incantations. “What are you doing? I thought we were going to ask it if we could borrow the crystal?” Snape snapped. “Don’t interrupt me, Harry!”
Harry noticed the guardian’s scales change colour. It opened its eyes. Harry jumped back. It spoke! “Hello!” it said in a big booming voice. “Err….hello!” Harry replied. Snape snapped again. “Don’t talk to it!” Harry remained quiet, while Snape continued. The guardian closed its eyes again and the colour of its scales returned to its previous state. Snape stopped the incantations and stood there muttering to himself “come on!”
All of a sudden it appeared: laying there in mid-air just like the guardian. It was a gold orb encrusted with various precious stones and patterns all around it. Snape grabbed it. “We have it!” Harry suspected that it was the Mizar crystal, but the crystal itself was obviously contained within the orb. “This is stealing! We did not ask!” worried Harry. “I’m afraid asking for it was out of the question, and we are not stealing it, we are borrowing it, like you asked….you want to save your friends don‘t you?.” Harry was quick to reply “Well yes, but…. a minute ago you told me to show it respect!” Snape quickly turned and started walking back you way they came. “Come on Harry, do not dawdle!” Harry started walking but then something made him stop and turn around. A mist appeared around the guardian; seeming to rotate anti-clockwise and becoming bigger. Shapes started emerging from it. What looked like spirits. They were heading Harry’s way.
“What are those?” Harry asked while starting to pick up speed. “The guardians ghosts.” Snape replied not turning to look. “Why didn’t you mention these before?” Harry had suddenly caught up with Snape. “That’s a nasty little habit of mine, isn’t it? NOW RUN!”
Once there had got back through the portal, one thing left Harry puzzled: “That was too easy, but it was also wrong!”
“Don’t worry, I will take full responsibility.” Snape was studying the Mizar crystal. He was about to open it but something stopped him. A cold chill came over Harry. “Why has it gone so cold all of a sudden?” Snape had an answer. “Well, it looks like we wont need the crystal to get to Simperit’s ice world.” Suddenly a portal opened releasing a chilled wind. Simperit Crout stood there unaffected by it: he had no hair for it to blow and no coat to flap about, just a small beard. “Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!” was all they got from him and he went back through the portal as soon as he had appeared. Harry and Snape took the opportunity to follow him through.
It was an ice world alright: everything was made of….ice! And cold; but not the type of cold that would freeze you to death in under a minute - it would take a bit longer than that. Hermione and Ron had been in it long enough, so time was of the essence. “What is it with Simperit?” questioned Snape. “It always has to be an ice world, or a fire world, or a lollipop and…… marshmallow world!”. “Lollipop…..” Harry’s curiousness was suddenly cut short by Snape: “Don’t ask! He summoned that up once because he knew how much I hate ‘sweet’ things!”
Harry spotted Hermione and Ron. They were in a type of ice cage. “Are you guys alright” a bit of a silly question for Harry to ask really. Ron was holding himself to try to keep warm. “Oh you know. C-c-c-cold!”
“Spells don’t work here.” Said Hermione. “Simperit has some form of anti-magic barrier in this world.” added Ron. “Yes we know, we came prepared.” - said Snape, holding the Mizar crystal. He opened it, in the centre was a thin blue crystal - it didn‘t look out of place with all this ice. “Is that what I think it is?” Asked Hermione. “Yes.” came a simple reply from Snape. Hermione had knowledge of this mythical crystal. “So its exists!”. “What is it for?” asked Ron, for which Hermione took pleasure in explaining. “They believe it can decrease any spells entropy to the point were it cancels itself out and then even reverse the spells effects.”. “Great” said Ron. “But how does it work?”. Harry answered that question: “It was said that you just have concentrate.”. Snape firmly grasped the crystal. “Just look were you want the energy to be directed too.” Snape lost his concentration. “Yes I know, Mr Potter, I have read the scriptures!” Snape concentrated but nothing was happening. “Maybe it doesn’t like you!” said Ron jokingly. “Maybe you would like to be left here to freeze!” came the reply.
Harry grabbed the stone out of Snape’s hands. “Let me try!”
“Your too weak, Mr Potter. You are not a master of the dark arts.” Harry ignored Snape, and concentrated on focusing the energy. After a minute or so it started to work. The ice bars began to melt and Hermione and Ron were free.
“No time to lose, we need to get the crystal back.” Harry, Hermione and Ron hurried cautiously - so as not to slip - back to the portal. Snape wasn’t so cautious: “Wait, about that crytalllllll!!!!!” Snape flew a couple of feet into air land flat on the ice. Harry and co. took a moment laugh, but Snape was not so amused. Before he said anything however, he noticed his students had stopped laughing. A shadow of a man lunged over him. Simperit Crout was a disgraced Defence of the Dark Arts Professor, and was deemed pretty harmless until now. He was bitter, you see. “Well, if it isn’t Sererus Snape! It’s a rare sight to see you falling on you’re ar….”. Snape cut Crout short: “Impressionable children present!”. “Oh, I think they have heard it all before.” Snape got up but then leapt towards the ground and did what was basically a power-slide to reach Harry and co. It actually looked quite funny, but no-one was laughing this time; Crout was a dangerous man and they had to escape. Harry - holding the crystal - concentrated on the ground between them and Crout. The ice melted along a wide crevice. Crout wasn’t impressed however. “I can just leap over that!”. Harry concentrated some more. The ice suddenly burst into flames - the ice spell was reversed - and it knocked Crout on to his back. Snape couldn’t resist to comment. “Who’s the one on his ar….. backside now!” They all slid then through the portal!
Snape tried to come up with an argument to keep the crystal, but Harry was having none of it - the boot was on the other foot now.
Just like Harry, it was Ron and Hermione’s first trip to Brisim. The villages all rushed back into their homes on first sight of the strangers. “What a weird bunch!” remarked Ron. “We would look weird to them.” added Hermione. They soon found the guardian. Both Hermione and Ron looked in astonishment and made the same remark: “It’s a fish!”. “Show some respect to Brisim’s guardian!” Harry said that while giving a sarcastic look towards Snape. The incantations were similar to the ones Snape performed previously. The guardian opened its eyes, said “Hello!” and went back to sleep. The crystal disappeared from Snape’s hand. “Damn!” he said. “It will be a long time before I get to hold that crystal again!”
Harry did not get a minutes peace has he and his friends entered Hogwarts Hall. Malfoy came right up to him. “You’ve done it now Potter. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!” His laugh was as pathetically evil as Simperit Crout’s was.
Malfoy stood to the side and Harry noticed Minerva McGonagall walking towards him. She looked angry. “Mr Potter!” Harry gulped. “Are you responsible for this?”. Responsible for what, he wondered.
A screeching screaming noise suddenly entered the hallway. Spirits flew about the hall like . “The spirits of the portraits have been disturbed. Among the chattering I could hear the words: Brisim….. Mizar and …. Potter!”. Harry looked over at Snape. After a few seconds of sustained staring, Snape gave up. “Oh alright, it was my fault - I found Brisim and ‘borrowed’ the crystal” Snape slowly walked up to
McGonagall. “So its not a myth after all!” she said. Harry quickly interrupted. “I used the crystal to help my friends, Simperit Crout had captured them.”. McGonagall looked back at Snape “He’s got worse.” He told her. “We’ll deal with him later, in the meantime….” Suddenly a spirit rushed past McGonagall and Snape. “….we can’t run Hogwarts like this!”. Another voice started approaching: it was Dumbledore. “If its true you have found the Mizar crystal, then that could be the cause of the spirits unrest. According to the scriptures, If you were to use the crystal, the echo from its energy would upset the balance of the spirits. Simple magic wont suffice. We need something to soothe them and it has to be mortal.” Hermione excitedly interjected: “I believe when I read the scriptures, it said a pure beautiful female singing voice would help to calm them.”. This gave Harry an idea. “I think I know someone who fits that category perfectly.
I wonder who thats going to be?
