Any reports of new and improved singing on here?! Yes. Before I knew Hayley, I couldn't sing. Now I deliberately don't sing. And that's an improvement! Roger

Absolutely, I don't even sing in the shower now! I once heard a voice coach say that anyone can be taught to sing. I would challenge that statement as even my talking is out of tune. Martin

I was fine until my voice broke. I never did find all of the pieces.

I think listening to Hayley has made me much more aware of the weaknesses of other singers, particularly when it comes to correct pitch. I can think of some that I used to enjoy that I now think are awful!
I think a much better way to improve your singing is proper voice training. You can see the effect of coaching in the week by week improvement of contestants in shows like the X-Factor.

Hi Martindn,
One of Hayley's major strengths in my opinion is the relatively pristine naturalness of her voice. Training can certainly help an ordinary - maybe even a talented -singer to improve. But I am not sure that it can do as much to improve a natural gift sometimes - naturalness seems to be "trained out", especially with classical training.

Hi Martin, All of us are going to have to bring some tape recorders into the shower and see who sounds the best! We'll call it the 2008 HWI Shower singing contest Will probably be the shortest thread ever on HWI haha i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifPeter Absolutely, I don't even sing in the shower now! Hi Guys! Hayley has definitely influenced my singing, and in a very good way. listening to her has improved the purity of my voice, so its very nice to be able to do certain songs with a more of a pure voice( such as Let Me Lie, Scarborough Fair, Prayer etc) and do others( I Say Grace etc) with more of a chest voice, you know, more of that Aretha or Ella feel.

Any reports of new and improved singing on here?! Happy new years all! My singing's improved a fair bit over the last year thanks to proffessional teaching and being in the choral union. I'd love to record myself one day, though I doubt anyone will pay to hear me! Hayley definitely motivates and inspires me with the music she does, I'd love to be able to sing such beautiful music myself, albeit an octave down from her. Cheers David
