A long time ago I was watching a programme about an animal sanctuary and I remember seeing a pony just lying there in a field. There was nothing else near him for quite a while, just the one pony lying down. The guy being interviewed said that he had been tormented by its former owners, and was having a rest. It moved me and I was happy to see it there just resting with nothing around to disturb it. It was a while ago but I thought about it the other day, I thought how it would be nice to have a field to rest my mind. It’s a lot different to cancer; the pain can be seen if you have cancer and you don’t get told to “stop whining” while your suffering. It is an illness that people can understand, I’ve lost people to cancer, I hate it. But people will never understand something that happens in the mind, they have to experience it. Fortunately its not constant and humour helps a lot, so does music. But that is the point of why I write this: Hayley is that field I wanted: somewhere to rest my mind when it gets really bad, its her voice, her smile and her kindness that I rest in. I win, because I know I’ve done nobody any harm, despite the way people can treat me and for that Hayley’s magic will always mean a lot to me.

Hi Jon
I like your analogy of Hayley being a field to rest ones mind in. She has that gift - a calming influence, call it what you will. She has changed my life simply by being the person she is.
I'm sure the pony you refer too was very content just to be left in peace after such torment.
Take care
Grant

She's my field too, that's a pretty way to put it. I have total peace when I'm listening to her sing, and I love her song Summer Rain It's really cool to know an angel her on earth Thank You Hayley

Hi Hayley Mc, If you're really lazy, you could always order them online and then sit back, relax, and wait for them to come! Roger

Hi Jon, I think I can quite identify with you and what you are going through, having been there myself; but medication has taken care of it most of the time. Your comments are so aptly and beautifully put !! Hayley sure is an Oasis for the mind when you listen to her sing !! Combine that with the knowledge we have of her Person, she truly brings peace into our hearts. I pray for her every day and my mind rests in the assurance that her God and mine looks after her and blesses her as we are blessed by her. Take care, love Marianne

Hi Marianne and everyone, Thanks for your words, Listening to Hayley's new album has prompted me into writing another poem about her. However this one will be a 'proper' poem which rhymes and is not free-form. In the meantime here's another little poem to keep you going: I wandered lonely as a sausage......... err..thats it!
