This site is starting to slow down too. I agree this board "IS" a bit slow sometimes, but I can live with it. I don't mind.

Hi Hayley Mc and Jon,
Your comments about site slowness etc. didn't go unnoticed... the other day, I managed to reduce the filesize of the HWI homepage (and this forum too) by 40%. There is more to come - but that will be more difficult and I'm afraid it will have to wait a little longer!
Cheers, Dave

Hi All,
It seems that sign-up problems are common to all bb01 bulletin boards. The problem has also been noted on the official Katherine Jenkins forum. One member who recently signed up indicated that he succeeded using a Yahoo e-mail address.
The slowness of the official forum is a problem that is also shared with other official forums. If access to Haylye's official forum is slow, the same applies to the official forums of Aled Jones, Nicola Benedetti, Katherine Jenkins, Vittorio Grigolo, to name a few. They all use the same software ....

It appears to be the images (icons etc) that are slowing down. The actual posts are ok.

I didn't have any problems registering with Hayley's and All Angels' official forums, but my e-mail is with Yahoo too! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Hi Gerrit.
Is it the software? Is it the servers? What else are they used for which would make other 'hidden' demand is on them? Is it a peaking of fans' access? Is it the total number of fans?
How do you arrive at the conclusion the software alone is to blame and if it is that slow (presumably through inefficient code?) why do so many use it? Or is it that the sites are too elaborate with 'pretty' things which aren't essential to the presentation of information, although of those sites mentioned that I recall, I would not have thought that was a cause.
Peter S.
PS: Picking up on someone's post when I was catching up earlier, it appears it might be the emoticons. Do we need them?

Hi Peter,
Good points - I assume it has to do with the software, but it could also be server problems. Probably it is a combination.
It is a known fact though, that the problems are common to all Decca/UCJ official forums using this particular service. At times when one of these forums is slow, the others are too!
I don't know why Decca/UCJ use this service. I know that for Katherine Jenkins they used a different service once, but that one proved prone to hackers and at one stage even harboured viruses - so they changed to the current one.

Gerrit Hi Gerrit Thanks for your response. I respond to your last point. Perhaps that answers all questions! Decca are aware of the failings, tried something different, encountered problems and may be the slowness is due to the code but not in itself but due to the anti-hacking facilities built into it. For instance, it is generally accepted that Symantec (Norton) Anti-virus program does slow up your PC, but I use the other facilities of Norton so consider it worthwhile to have all facilities from 'one house' and tolerate the 'slowing up'. Yes Peter, Norton does use a lot of resources and can slow down older computers. However I don't experience any problems with the official site anymore, so the problem could be IE7 based? I'm not sure. Probably just ISP problems.

This is very strange! Why is it that Yahoo e-mail addresses receive password confirmation e-mails, whereas just about every other e-mail provider appears to be excluded? I have some evidence from the Vittorio Grigolo forum to confirm this. Among the last 30 new members or so, there are a number of "duplicates" (people who try to sign up with a similar name using a different e-mail address). There are also two new signings there with a Yahoo e-mail address - and both of those have already posted a message. So why is it that Yahoo addresses receive confirmation e-mails, and just about any other addresses don't? To me, that does sound like a software problem! Cheers, Gerrit Well, I finally managed to sign up at HW.com forum using a newly created yahoo.com mail address! Success! Russ

Hi! I've registered at Yahoo and what shall I say? ... I finally made it to the official forum. Look out for "thomas [HWI]"! Actually at the moment there is not so much to look out for at this username, I've just posted once. Anyway, HWI will stay the best and my most visited forum. Thomas
