Hi All, I was going to start a thread "One Hundred Things I like about Hayley" but that would be stealing Dave's Idea but that does not mean I can not think of one hundred. So here are my top ten, in no particular order. 1. The way Hayley takes time at the end of a concert to spend time with her supporters. 2. I like the way Hayley has retained that 'Pure' natural voice that first made me stop and listen. 3. Hayley's ability to make those around her feel at ease in her presence. 4. Her professionalism shown on and off the stage. 5. The ease with which she allows us all to photograph her during and after her performances. 6. The way Hayley always remembers to thank the other artists performing with her. 7. Hayley''s beautiful dresses. 8. Hayley's Love and Respect for her family. 9. The way Hayley brings such pleasure to us all through the songs she choses to sing. 10.The work Hayley has undertaken with UNICEF in Ghana. Thats my ten, who's next? Steve H

B... but it isn't my idea Steve, it's really Nicola's and I wondered if she might be going to do a thread on it! I'll be joining in this one later as I can't think as quick as you youngsters Cheers, Dave

NOTE: This is NOT a complete list! 1. Hayley's smile! 2. Her beautiful voice. (Of course!) 3. How humble and down-to-earth she is. 4. Her close relationship with her mom, dad, and siblings. 5. Her choice of songs. 6. Her low notes. 7. Her high notes. 8. How pretty she is! And her great sense of style when it comes to clothing. The 12-page thread on her dresses is proof! 9. Her speaking voice. 10. Her... just her. Everything that makes her herself. Her character. The person behind the voice!

Is there a prize for getting the right answers? 1. Her voice. 2. An unusually high proportion of her repertoire. 3. Her willingness to meet her fans. 4. Her PUBLIC devotion to her family. 5. Her loyalty to her home country. 6. Her unpretentiousness (is that a word?). 7. Her photogenicness (that's definitely not a word!). 8. Her care for others (ie, UNICEF). 9. Her family - they are ALL really nice people. 10. Her professionalism. er... 11. The way she puts up with me running this forum! Roger

Hey, I was going to start it, but a documentary on the making of the Phantom of the Opera came on BBC2 out of nowhere! I had to watch it! (Rare Sarah Brightman footage!) I'm not sure if I can list ten simple things, and I imagine if I simply did do that this thread will be very repetitive! I guess I'll make my own format. The positive aspects of Hayley Hayley on an artistic level:Hayley obviously has a predisposition to be determined and dedicated to everything she does, how else did she know that she wanted to be a singer from such a young age? The fact that she has been trained and groomed as just a singer, she does not allow herself to be a mere puppet. Her involvement with 'What You Never Know' shows her eagerness to involve herself in music on a creative level, it also shows amazing instinct regarding songs. The original was immensely repetitive but potentially special. Hayley recognised that and changed it accordingly to what now is quite a stand out song. She also has her own input on material. Her fight to put 'Wuthering Height's on 'Pure' and her decisions of songs to cover for 'Odyssey' shows her gifted instincts on what not only works, but also to do what she simply wants to do - which is the best thing any artist can do. She recognises good songs such as 'Both Sides Now' and 'May It Be'. This much talent at such an early stage of her creativity is astounding and extremely promising. I can't wait to see what she is doing in five years time! Hayley is also self-aware what her voice fits, and what it doesn't. Her vocal capabilities, quite rightly lead her into the classical crossover market, rather than pop or rock. Hayley as a singer:It rather goes without saying really. She's pitch perfect, equipped with the somehow innate ability to hit the notes that she recognises and further given the gift of probably one of the most beautiful voices that the record industry has allowed itself to come across. Yes, this thread has stemed from what I said about her lacking emotion, but it somewhat charges itself irrelevant since Hayley does not need to sing emotionally to spark emotion within her listeners. Her voice is too pure, too clear, too unique, too distinct. The type of music Hayley sings dictates her vocals to work in the way they do. Whilst Hayley may lack diversity in the vocals unlike other artists, her vocals can allow her to branch into other areas where other artists could never dream of going (lady fronted metal, all the way - listen to Within Temptation 'Memories' to get an idea what I'm getting at there! Hayley as a person:Doesn't this go without saying too? I don't know Hayley that well, and have only met her and her family once, that's all I can speak of. The occassion rendered Hayley to be an immensely friendly and beautiful human-being, inside and out. I got no sense of pretentiousness or arrogance from her. It was a very brief meeting, but my mind was quite made up. She wasn't a robot that spewed out automatic answers to certain comments and questions that her fans put forward (which Katherine appeared to do when I met her, not saying she's pretentious, but her answers appeared to have been said time and time again, making the meeting quite impersonal). You didn't get that from Hayley, she truly seemed to value every fan she had. Hayley's Image: Hayley has done no wrong in the public eye, probably because she does no wrong anyway! Point being, however, that although she does nothing wrong she certainly chooses the right things to do to promote kindness and make herself a good role model to her fans. Obviously, she doesn't attempt to make herself sexy and tacky, she is just herself; natural. She is good to her fans consistently, and she is renowned philanthropist (that may just be spelt wrong, but I'm sure you know what I mean!). She doesn't do concerts to make money, or merely to get more publicity, but to promote their causes. I have been to a variety of her performances. One did include a huge concert at Kenwood, but other than that, she sang to a small crowd in a church (St. James) and an even smaller crowd in a tent (Classical Convention). She does these things to promote charities and classical music awareness. Last but not least, she is UNICEF Ambassador. All in all, Hayley probably has the best public image of a singer I have never come across. Hey, Bob Geldof does a lot, but he actually it quite a rude person, that has no problems with swearing and shouting at everyone, even in front of the cameras. Hayley is a consistent person, not only aware of her influence on others, but also as a natural person. I hope this puts any doubts anyone had about me liking Hayley to rest!
