You know I was watching some online videos of Carrie Underwood on "Americal Idol" and one of the things the judges were saying is how she knew who she was musically. She sang the type of music that suited her voice, and that she would make a great CD because she knew who she was. While listening to Hayley's DVD and tracks from "Pure" I realized that that is one of the reasons that I probably got into Hayley in the first place. She knew (well, maybe her producers helped just a bit, lol ) who she was, and what she should sing, etc. All the tracks off "Pure" were perfect for her voice - same goes with the DVD. Those songs sound as if they could have been written just for her, know what I mean? Odyssey was a bit of a departure from the 'knowing who she is' thing, at least for me, but I can't wait to see what this new album will be like!! Looking forward to reading your comments! Hugs, Tashi

Hiya Tashi, I have never hidden the fact that I prefer Pure to Odyssey. Yes, it is because I prefer the material but that is only a very superficial reason, beyond which I have never seriously thought about. I think you have just explained it! Hugs, Roger

Agree entirely with your view Tashi on suitability for her voice but styling/presentaion has something to do with it as well,. This, I think, is part of the reason why 'Wuthering Heights' caused such internal debate and why I am glad she won that debate.
She was right. It is a contrast to what else is there. The 'final' (for UK) version of Odyssey had a greater sense of compatibility. What I would call--and I do NOT mean the term as disparagingly as it can be used--as wallpaper or 'easy listening' music. CD 3 must revert to introducing the contrast that 'Wuthering Heights' gave Pure or perhaps introduce a new road down which she might travel. Peter
