Hi Raymond,
The biography contains more or less what you would expect from a biography of a 17-year-old girl (which she was at the time of publication). It covers her appearances in school productions and her busking days and there are chapters for each album from 'Walking In The Air' up to 'Pure'.
There are interesting sections about her family and others who have influenced her (both professionally and privately).
The book contains 24 colour photographs of Hayley. These include one of her as a baby! Aah!
Of course the best part of the book appears on page 152 when HWI get a mention!
I ordered mine online from NZ but it took many weeks to reach me. If I can find the site again, I'll be back with the link in case you have difficulty in obtaining it in Hong Kong.
Roger

Hi Raymond, One thing I forgot to mention is that it was only ever punlished in paperback! It appears to be no longer available from the place where I ordered it. But Amazon.co.uk have it here for 9.09 GBP plus shipping costs. There must be somewhere more convenient for you to buy it! Roger

Well, without posting too much in the way of spoilers, it's a pretty conventional bio, starting before Hayley's birth with the background and fairly conventional courtship of her parents. It then walks through the arrival of Hayley and her siblings and a little bit of family info, but nothing too revealing, then goes into the musical story, which is, of course, the bulk of things: Hayley's busking, the early memento CD, her first two CDs in NZ, and the first version of Pure, which almost was much poppier than the version we got, Pure 2.0, as it were. Along the line it talks about this concert and that concert, and so far Hayley's one indiscretion, which was slopping a ton of makeup on at age 14 or so and trying to get into an R16 movie (The Green Mile) but being turned away because she was too small. There are some clarifications of what Hayley is, what she isn't and what she will and won't do, as well as a section on advice for stage parents.
Overall it is a nice and respectful, but not titllating, bio. Those who pick it up hoping to see the family's dirty linen hung out in public will be sorely disappointed, as will those looking for a hidden mean side. I just got my copy last month, and I hope and pray I can get it signed.
Oh, and there are some great pics of Hayley in it you can't get anywhere else.

My friend Becky recommended the Hong Kong Public Libraires to buy this book, so it is now available in the public libraries! I borrowed it and finished reading it. I think it is a good book. I love it. However, it is difficult to buy it in Hong Kong because no book shop sells this book.

I'm quoting this post from the 'Andrea Ross' thread on the 'Other Music' board. Hi Folks, Don't know where else to pose the question.
DID ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER KEEP HIS PROMISE. ?
Did he ever write the promised song for Hayley ?
as referred to in The world at her feet. comet

These three posts have been moved from 'Andrea Ross'. Hi Folks, Don't know where else to pose the question. DID ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER KEEP HIS PROMISE. ? Did he ever write the promised song for Hayley ? as referred to in The world at her feet. comet I've wondered about that myself Comet.
GrantGood question comet. Does anyone know? I guess the first we'll know is when she records it. Could it be on Treasure?
Peter S. When did he make this promise?

Hello Comet, Grant, Peter and Meagan! I certainly remember reading this in Hayley's biography. I believe Andrew Lloyd Webber offered to write a song for Hayley after her performance in his concert for the Queen, Tony Blair and George Bush in Regent's Park. I've heard nothing more since. Best Wishes, Richard

Richard is quite right in saying it was late 2003. We have a brief report from Stuff.co.nz in the HWI 2003 archive HERE. I seem to remember they expected Hayley would be unusually nervous if she knew for whom she would be singing. The event was therefore given the code name "BBQ" which actually stood for Bush, Blair, Queen, only Hayley didn't know that! That story is probably told in the biography (howzat for getting back on topic!). I have not heard that ALW ever wrote the song for Hayley. Roger

Best Wishes, Richard I wouldn't wish to take issue with you on the association, Richard, but the manner, yes. Somewhere buried is my copy of The World at Her Feet and I haven't time to either find it nor look through it were I to find it, but I must take time to have my Hayley dose through this forum, hence me being here and replying without checking my facts. I thought it was in a rehearsal room prior to booking her for the event (the event was managed by the Really Useful Group, hence Webber) and he, awed by her voice approached her and ASKED 'may I write a song for you?'. The implicaiton behind that is that he would write a song exclusively for her to perform, presumably under his direction. Peter S.
