Could Hayley use a warm-up act for her solo concerts? I mean a real warm-up act, not just her versatile violinist playing some swanky tunes to kill time. The answer is plainly yes.
The best warm-up would be another young singer, or small group of singers, whose crossover appeal is not too dissimilar to Hayley's and whose talent meets the high standards her Management requires. Some candidates for my short list are:
1. Pzazz - they make the cutest music I've ever heard! A gem! 2. Saara Aalto - Finland's answer to Sissel 3. Holly Holyoake - Wales' answer to Maria Callas 4. Taylor Caruso Kirk - the next Renee Fleming 5. Stephanie Rose - Canada's best kept secret
I propose that her opening act perform seven or eight crowd-pleasing numbers and then a song or two with Hayley at the end of the show. The ones I've just named are all polished performers in their own right and would start things off on a delightful note every time.
Any other names to this list?

The beauty of Fiona is that she provides contrast, gives Hayley a rest but most particularly of all, Fiona can match Hayley in supremacy of her instrument. As I have observed in past posts, both commenting on Hayley when she had to use a replacement for Fiona (see my Huddersfield report), and generally discussing the Hayley/Fiona relationship, Hayley must have someone of Hayley's standard to 'battle' with otherwise the second artist comes over as flat and disappointing, however competent. More particularly, she needs a contrasting act, not just a different performer. A male singer with whom she may duet is a possibility but the way Fiona and Hayley effectively play duets, each instrumentalist pushing their instrument and the fact it is a completely different instrument, adds colour and depth to her concerts. Arguably, does one want anyone but Hayley? BUT Hayley needs to pace herself, so she needs someone else. Peter

Hello everybody! I agree that Hayley and Fiona make a nice contrast with each other and work well together, but I think a good tenor would be a very popular support act. I'm sure the majority of Hayley's lady fans would be in favour of the idea. I clearly remember Mario Frangoulis at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend during the second 'Pure' tour in November 2004, and he kicked up quite a storm without stealing the show from Hayley. In fact it gave his own career a boost by introducing him to British audiences. The only problem is that his style of music would probably require at least a small orchestra, but a pre-recorded backing track might be an option. Richard

Live music!!! Live music!!!! Esecially with Hayley on stage so VERY alive! But you raise a point Richard which i had previously overlooked in my earlier ramblings. May be Hayley has learned an awful lot from her US tour with Il Divo.Their audience is largely female, according to reports. Hayley's audiences are mostly middle-aged but balanced between the sexes, by having a male 'mascot' perhaps she could widen her audience appeal and also, as happens with Il Divo, apparently, lower her audience attraction age. Very interesting thought, Richard. Peter

I dunno about seven or eight pieces, but maybe three or four, the audience might get impatient otherwise. I agree with all of Steve's mentions as possible support acts, and I'm sure Hayley would enjoy performing with all of them.
BTW, lest we forget, particularly if Hayley is singing in a church, a great support act for her would be Natasha and Crystal, I would love to hear all three of them sharing "Hine e Hine" at the end.

...Of course there is always the alternative of Steven and Raymond singing with her. Well, Dave and I have done it so why shouldn't they? On second thoughts, maybe Crystal and Natasha is a better idea! I'd buy a ticket. Roger

Assuming I could bring along my good friend Nancy (she accompanies the chorus I belong to and accompanied Kristyn when we had her down) I suppose I could do three or four songs in a supporting role, but no more than that, and I'd probably have to practice every day for six weeks beforehand to make sure I was up to snuff, to say nothing of going on a crash diet to look better. But my approach would be more the Mario Lanza/Daniel Rodriguez approach, and I do not know if that fits in with Hayley.
For those who care, the songs would probably be:
An American Hymn The Green Fields of France There's a Long, Long Trail Hard Times

Yes Roger, I'm sure you didn't know but Steven is actually a fine tenor! Crystal and I have both sung with him... and if his choir ever wants us back, maybe we'll get to again! I'd come to see Steven open for Hayley... question is, since I'm such a good friend don't I get a special backstage pass?

Yes, Natasha, you can certainly always come say hi to me, and also to Hayley, I'm sure, since she likes you very much (she said so). You can also help yourself to whatever catering spread there is.
Now, if I can just find someone to play the uilean pipes and the guitar, we'd be in business (pipes are used on 2 of the songs, guitar on one).
