We all know Hayley is way past the busking stage, but that doesn't stop her from going back to her roots once in a while. As recently as 2004 she busked with her sibs in several cities where she had concert engagements.
Wouldn't it be nice if she recorded an album directly from the streets of ChCh so the rest of the world could experience the fun and spontaneity of her early career? She would not only revisit those amazing, inspiring times but create a whole new art form: the busking concert album.
The tech is available to do it right -- to keep it authentic, simple and clean-sounding. For fullest authenticity there would be no prior announcement of her busking and no special staging or seating. It would play out organically, crowd noises and all.
Some people might reject the idea because it appears too well removed from the safety and assurance of the modern recording studio, and they are right, to a degree. There's always a risk in experimenting. But that's exactly the beauty of it -- Hayley herself was experimenting back then, every time out. I'm sure a lot of that energy still exists in her spirit and is just waiting to be unleashed again.

Hi Steve,
That sounds like a good idea, perhaps Hayley and Sophie could do a documentary for TV coverage, about the roots of busking, showing that it is a good way to start out in your musical career, lets face it you have to be good to attract and keep an audience on the street.
I have heard Hayley sing unaccompanied at a school in south London late last year, and her voice is awesome, so strong for one so petite. She must have been so impressive when she was singing on the streets!
What do you think?
