Although I'm sure we all liked "My Gift to You" I don't doubt there isn't a soul here who would love to see Hayley do an international dedicated Christmas album. I know I would, and it's a fact that Christmas albums are moneymakers, because they can be released again and again, and if Hayley was to release one now or next year, she could probably keep releasing it, she isn't, thank God, likely to change a huge amount, other than becoming wiser.
The only tracks that I would use a second time on this album would be "Silent Night" which by its nature has to stay, and "Do You Hear What I Hear," in order to have Sophie duet with Hayley again.
I would like Hayley to do some classical tracks, so "O Holy Night" is virtually a must-do, plus Pietro Yon's "Gesu Bambino" and possibly Gounod's "Angelic Greeting" (a not-too-well-known, but still lovely version of the Ave Maria done in French). I think that would be it for classical tracks, though, we don't want to abuse Hayley's voice.
The other carols would prolly come from among the usual choices: "What Child is This?" "Away In A Manger," "Still, Still, Still" "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly", and "The Coventry Carol" for slower "lullaby" pieces, "Joy To the World," "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" "The Little Road to Bethlehem," and "Angels from the Realms of Glory" for the faster ones, plus an unusual mystical carol called "Who Shall Come on Christmas Morn" written by fellow Kiwi David Hamilton (not sure about the first name). Oh yes, and Hayley should commit "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" to CD.
Anyone else have ideas on this?

My suggestion is a song that Billy Gilman sings called, "There's a new kid in town" I think it would suit Hayley's voice perfectly.
Also the popular song, "Sleigh Ride" (which was another one Billy recorded with CC actually) would make for a nice duet with Sophie.
I think your suggestions are great! I would especially love to here her sing, "Little Road to Bethlehem." I heard a clip of Sarah Williams singing it and it's a gorgeous piece!

Hello Steven and Natasha! I'm sure Hayley would love to record an international Christmas album during the next few years, and I've got a suggestion. I would like her to sing "O Come All Ye Faithful", but possibly the Latin version "Adeste Fideles". I remember hearing Perry Como sing this on a 78rpm record! If I have any more ideas I'll post them here. Bye for now, Richard

I'd be all for that piece, just not a really screamy version, as we don't want to hurt Hayley's voice. C'mon folks, more suggestions, we want this album to eventually get made.

Hi all,
I'd love for Hayley to record an int'l Christmas album. I would like Hayley to sing "See Amid The Winter's Snow"and "Once In Royal David's City". "O Tannenbaum" and "Adeste Fidelis" would also do nicely. Of course some contemporary tunes like "Jingle Bell Rock" must be included. "The Twelve Days of Christmas" could include vocals with Sophie and Isaac!
I wonder if Hayley would collaborate with, say, either King's or Trinity College Choir at Cambridge.
"Märie Te Pö" is NZ's version of 'Silent Night'. I'm sure Hayley knows it.

Hello again folks! I've had another idea. "In Dulci Jubilo" is a gentle carol usually performed by a choir, but I would love to hear it sung by Hayley, Sophie and Isaac as a trio. The harmonies would be out of this world! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard

Dunno about "Jingle Bell Rock," but who knows? If Hayley is going to do contemporary Xmas pieces I think two that can't go untouched are "White Christmas" and "Home for the Holidays." That trio version of "In Dulce Jubilo" is also a great idea. Aack, we're getting to the point where we have enough tracks for 2 albums at this poiint. Oh well, I trust Hayley and her team to make the right choices that will please everyone: her, her management, and of course the fans.
Now, anyone for a title and a cover?

Hmm...I have some suggestions for a title...
Magic of the Season -- this cover would feature Hayley's face in profile as she gazes upon a snowy forest.
Winter Wonderland -- the cover might have Hayley standing next to Father Christmas on a NZ beach...He's got his surf-board and sunglasses!
Home for the Holidays -- a gorgeous cover of the Westenra family.

I definitely like the first and third ideas, and I think both would sell. Now we just need to convince Hayley to record it, after, of course, she's had a little break from recording Odyssey....

I'm sure you did. Maybe that could be used as the cover for a single of "Christmas on Christmas Island," since that island is actually down near Australia.
No, no flooding in my hometown, thank God, although stay away from the Holland Tunnel (blub blub blub).

Another idea I just had, to make this truly an "international" album and stretch Hayley's language skills would include the addition of the following pieces, all in the original languages:
Fum, Fum, Fum (Spanish) Lo, How a Rose (German) Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle (Italian) Christmas Night Carol (Russian) The Norwegian Children's Prayer
and of course, at least one Maori Christmas song.

I wish she would record an international version of 'Mary Did You Know.' I wonder why they're keeping that song of the int'l albums. Someone PS. Fusilier, I think your idea about the different languages is excellent.

Hello Someone! Hayley's original recording of "Mary Did You Know?" was on her 2001 Christmas album "My Gift To You", which was only officially released in New Zealand. Hayley has since rerecorded the song, and the new version is available on several bonus CD editions of "Pure". Best Wishes, Richard
