Hi, This sketch is based on the way Hayley appeared in the DVD (because straight hair is much easier to draw!). Since completing it about three weeks ago, I have been trying to decide whether to post it here or not. I still haven't decided. Shall I, or not?! Roger

Hello Roger! That looks a wonderful sketch of Hayley, so I think you should definitely post it. Perhaps you could also post a smaller version so it fits the screen better, something like this! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI must have a word with the National Portrait Gallery down the road. I've never seen a picture of Hayley in there, so far! Best Wishes, Richard

Hi Roger, Many thanks for sharing your artwork with us I really like your idea for creating a 'Hayley Sketch' thread. Perhaps you will have encouraged a few more budding artists among us to contribute some Hayley drawings/ paintings Regards, Andrew

Hi, This sketch is based on the way Hayley appeared in the DVD (because straight hair is much easier to draw!). Since completing it about three weeks ago, I have been trying to decide whether to post it here or not. I still haven't decided. Shall I, or not?! Well, you open yourself up to inviting criticism, so one is not entering into the spirit of the camaraderie of this site if one does not respond! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif1. I can't draw a train, so I respect anyone who can do something better and portraiture is arguably the most challenging art form. 2. It is also difficult for a person incapable of drawing to criticise someone else's efforts, other than a professional's. The size is overlarge on the screen so I took the trouble of printing it out but the margin was a little tight so I took it into photoshop. That told me my first impression was correct, the face is too elongated. Disconnecting the proportional control I changed the width from 960 default to 1200 and I thought the slightly fatter face gave an overall very good impression. Especially around the eyes which is obvious in the original. The advantage gained with that tweaking means that the slight disassociation (or contradiction) of angles, vis-s-vis the direction in which her eyes are looking and angles from the difference of artist's/photographer's position/perspective are reduced. 3. In short, it's a damned good effort and I appreciate multi-talented people. The question is, should one have two threads: poetry and art separately or one and the same, bearing in mind we already have a photography thread? Or, perhaps, we should have 'art' being anything members come up with in photography, poetry, drawing/painting and 'Hayley and art' being all three but specifically related to Hayley? Peter PS. Edit as at 10:50 BST, the picture above is a quote of the original. I would NOT presume to post an amendment to someone else's work and by quoting 'as is', people may (or may no) be better able to accept or reject my critcism.

Not bad at all. I wonder if Holly took a break from her busy musical schedule, what kind of sketch she could produce, for she is a talented artist herself, I saw her draw a very good picture of an African king on the spot. I hope the museum she drew it for didn't discard it, it could be valuable one day.
