Hi all, Yesterday, when I was shopping in a shopping mall in Berlin, I was a little bit surprised to see a car with a very special car registration number in the garage. The number was “HWI…” . Immediately I took out my SONY-cam and made a picture for you. (Everyday I take my cam with me. You must know, in Germany it is advantageous to take a picture with your cam if you made a crash with your car. This documentation is good for the assurance. All day I take my cam beside me, because I’m driving by hearing only and sometime I make a crash) Please have a look to my photograph album at fotos.web.de/lothar.jurk/HWI_registration_number The german car registration number HWI - that means: WI: This is WISMAR, a small town in the north of Germany at Baltic Sea. H:This is for “Hanse”, that means Hanseatic League. (Please have a look at wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanse ) The yellow stripe is the identification for car registration numbers, which you can use for a “short time” only till a special day. Example: If your car is not registered officially because in the past it was not running, so you can use this number to drive with this car to a car check, if you want to get a car certificate that your car is o. k. and you can use it up to now in the public traffic. Regards, Lothar
