Some of you will have seen this but I hadn't until I stumbled upon in a few minutes ago. It is a 7-minute video from hw.de most of which is in English with parts of it in German with English subtitles. It includes some clips of Hayley performing that I had never seen before. www.klassikakzente.de/_ram/westenra/hayley_epk.ramEnjoy, Roger

Roger I really need to get over to use my DSL connection. Every time a new video comes I start downloading it and then I realize it's going to take forever on my dial-up, lol.
Thanks for the link though, I'll check it out next time I'm on DSL.

Hi Roger!
Thanks for the clip, I've never seen it before.
What's the name of that beautiful song that she's singing in the middle of the clip (with the purple dress on, before she talks about her concert with Bryn and Jose)? I've been replaying that piece a million times.

Hi someone,
I'm afraid I can't help much with your question because I have no idea what the song is. I have never heard it before but I agree, it certainly is lovely.
However, I recognise the event. It is part of the concert that Russell Watson gave in Auckland in February 2002 in which Hayley was one of the guests (the other was Faye Tozer, formerly of Steps). That means Hayley was 14 at the time of the recording! WOW!
Can anyone else help name the song?
Roger

I Googled some of the words I could understand, and found out that this song is Romanza, by Andrea Bocelli. I hope Hayley records it someday. ~Someone

:je Vocabulary and grammar were o.k , accent was nice like every time ... ... convincing ... you can decide by yourself when you will read my translation ... Hayley said at the beginnig: I'm Hayley Westenra. I'm from New Zealand, the most beautiful country of the world, apart from Gerlany (LOL). cu Lothar

And if I may be so bold as to translate the parts at the end: Hayley describes Pokarekare Ana as a mariner's song, the title meaning "The waters are stormy", and concludes with "Please visit my showcase, and if you can't then visit me in New Zealand." Approximately correct, Lothar ?

Thank you Roger for the German item. A very nice cameo. When I tried to download the link as a target it would only download a link. Any chance of that becoming truly downloadable? I'm sure Hayley speaking in native language, if only as a token is an aspect of courtesy the native must love. How many languages does she learn sufficientl to do that in (ignoring what she learns for song singing? German, French, Italian? Peter

I think when it comes to fluency, Hayley's only fluent in English.

Hello Peter! When Hayley performs in a foreign country, she likes to learn a few phrases in the local language so she can introduce herself to the audience. She even spoke a little bit of Welsh when she appeared with Bryn Terfel and José Carreras at the Faenol Festival in North Wales in August 2003. I believe she's even done it in Japanese! It's fun for Hayley, and it always goes down well with the crowd. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard
