For lack of anything better to do, I've decided to start a list of all the titles Hayley Westenra has been given. Feel free to add to the collection: (updated) - opera diva - crossover princess - classical supremo i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif- Kiwi songstress - voice of an angel - world famous opera singer - beloved songbird - Christchurch's most famous schoolgirl - 18-year-old megastar - singing sensation - the flying Kiwi - one of the best voices - the little Kiwi - the eighth world wonder

I can not think of any but I do not know why they would call her a opera singer or opera diva . It shows that the press does not know what opera is and what classical is for that matter. I would more of so say singing sensation.

Hello Someone! "The Flying Kiwi" This was the title of an article about Hayley that I read in a magazine last year, possibly Muso. Of course, the kiwi is the emblem of New Zealand, but it is actually a flightless bird, while Hayley regularly flies all over the world. Bye for now, Richard

'One of the best voices', the title I also use in my website. Cheers, Raymond

Hi someone,
I once heard Hayley introduced on Classic FM radio simply as "the little kiwi". It was said in a very affectionate way which I thought was rather nice.

Ooh, here's a nice one from an HMV Australia review: "the eighth world wonder." By the way, Raymond, a few days ago I was talking to my dad about Hayley, and he called her "one of the world's best voices."

On Amazon, one member listed Pure in their Listmania entitled "fire in the cold winter," which I think is very fitting. This also made me think of a line from Hayley's song All I Have to Give ...
"Just one sound kept the cold away."

I sure hope so. It was like 4 degrees below zero in Minneapolis this morning.
These words are also fitting: "Cold, cold wind it blows me away" & "I'm so cold, let me in-a-your win-dow"

Here is one from an interview with FemaleFirst that seems quite fitting right now:

Hi Everybody, & Happy Christmas Oksy, I was actually looking for what sits in my memory as "The Voice of the century" but was unable to find where the quote came from. What I did find however, was the following quote from Steve McDonald who is a regular contributor to this site:
"the most ravishingly beautiful human voice in all of existence"
I can't help but go all the way with that one!!!!! Graemek

Well Steve, I think you might well have been excited at the time, but I think you basically put Hayley where she belongs: At or not far away from the top!!!! I have no embarrassment at all in saying she possesses the most beautiful voice I have ever heard in my (long) life. Graemek

There is no doubting that Hayley is blessed with an angelic voice that would make grown cherubs cry, and that her heavenly vocals put most Seraphim to shame... However.... I always cringe when I hear this "voaa" cliché applied to Hayley, especially since her immediate predecessor in the singing-sensation field essentially used it as her self-flattering trademark.
