A friend of mine in America read some of my recent reviews. It seems my appreciation of Hayley was conveyed in those reviews more than I realised. I reproduce an extract from the feedback I received yesterday from my friend Laurel:
"....I totally understand what Hayley's music means to you .... a voice that reaches into the very center of your heart, your soul ... and pulls out all of the emotions in such a wonderful, joyous and cleansing way ... surrounding you with peace and love .... letting you know that there is a wonderful life out there and in there."
I couldn't have put it better myself. So, how would you describe what Hayley and her music mean to you.
Roger

Someone has been taking lessons from Natasha here. Lessons on how to ask very deep and searching questions. What does Hayley mean to me? I don't know if this can be answered without waxing lyrical. So I will. Hayley is the sheer beauty of the dawn chorus, followed by the revelation of early morning sunlight over dew covered green fields. Hayley is the peace and tranquility of a babbling brook. She is inspirational to match a field of daffodils swaying in the breeze (Wordsworth). (You are probably getting the picture that all my great moments come from appreciation of the countryside.) I could go on, but I will simply say that Hayley is the epitome of every joyous and uplifting emotion that humanity can put a name to. This is why I love her so much, as a person as well as an artist. I think this also illustrates why it is such an honour to be able to think of her, her family, and all those around her as friends. And why it is such a joy to follow her career and do what I can to support and promote her. In the four years since I first heard her sing, she has changed my life so much, it is not possible to express the full meaning of Hayley to me. Keith.

Hello folks! Hayley means more than words can say to me and millions of others. Everything about her is perfect, not just her singing and musical taste, but her personality, her dress sense, her behaviour on and off stage, her modesty, her dedication, her friendliness, her maturity, her compassion (think of her charity work), well I could go on and on. Hayley is definitely the perfect example for other young performers to follow, as many are now doing, and I wouldn't want to change a single thing about her. Personally I'm pleased to have made friends with her at an early stage of her career, because I'm really enjoying supporting her and watching her grow from strength to strength, while she remains exactly the same person that she was when I first met her on 1st October 2003. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifMany thanks and congratulations for everything, Hayley! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard

What does Hayley mean to me? It's a very simple question yet I struggle as I try to put feelings into words. I've gone through what I call "music phases" in my life. These "phases" can last a few months or a few years. Some of these may have simply ceased or may recur. There have been Enya, Enigma, Charlotte Church, Libera, Hayley Westenra, Aselin Debison, The Cottars. The last four artists are still in my current music phase. However none of these four have the potential to become a major worldwide phenomenon except Hayley Westenra. I find myself always coming back to Hayley's music. There is always an emotion or a part of life that can be found in her voice. Having first learnt of Hayley in November 2003, I wanted to know everything I could about this young Kiwi girl. That's when I found HWI and this forum. Lately many young people have joined us; most are accomplished singers themselves or fans of classical music and the like. I'm very glad to have met such nice people here who are such devoted fans. This includes the "magnificient seven". Whether it's a short ride on the underground or a long plane ride, you guys will stop at nothing to attend Hayley's many appearances. Although Hayley hasn't set foot in America at all this year; reading all of your concert reviews and seeing the wonderful photos makes me feel like I've been there. I suppose a lot of my support for Hayley is a direct result of the support of Jill and Gerald. Family values are very important to me and are also reflected in Sophie and young Isaac. Hayley's many works of charity are quite impressive for an eighteen-year-old. Then of course comes my personal feelings for Hayley. Her entire being is radiant; her singing is like watching the wind waving fields of wheat. She is like watching the sun come up. Hayley has the power to soothe the mind. When Hayley's USA tour last spring was postponed, Hayley was just as disappointed as I was. This meant that my chance to meet and hear Hayley in person wouldn't happen for another 6 or 10 months. Let's talk about Hayley's effect worldwide. "Pure" has gone 12x platinum in her native NZ...shattered chart records in the UK...set Japan alight with her music singles...toured with the Boston Pops and appeared in TV shows in America watched by over 5 million people...a huge fan base in Germany. But this is just the beginning. With a new album ready to hit the world stage, Hayley will take us on a new Odyssey in her life. We shall follow you every step of this journey, Hayley, for many years to come. Joe (stepping off the soap-box)
