Hey peeps, I was watching the Pokarekare Ana video and thought it was much better done than the Wuthering Heights video. In fact, I'd rather forfeit the Wuthering Heights video and put in Pokarekare Ana. For seveal reasons:
1. It is much, MUCH more suited for Hayley. Its a very chaste, tranquil video. I don't particularly like it, but I think its well done for Hayley, primarily because it fits her image of pure - which is pretty chaste. Nothing overly emotional or particularly full blood passionate, which Wuthering Heights requires, and Hayley can't quite manage to pull off.
2. Though its a well known NZ folk song, its not well known internationally. And Hayley won't suffer from having her video dubbed "a parody of Kate Bush", as the caption on the Top of the Pops website suggests.
3. Visually, I find Hayley much, much more appealing. With straight hair, in tranquil colors such as aqua and white. *She even has shorts to cover her um, loin area. Booyah! More chaste imagery*. In the Wuthering Heights, I couldn't quite picture Hayley in black and red, passionate colors. My image of Hayley isn't passionate, its the opposite of that.
4. Pokarekare Ana suits her voice more than Wuthering Heights does. And all the nature imagery, the breathing life into the boy (but she leaves him! Oi! Wonderful, sea fairyish, no man businiess!), finding the unidentified shiny things.
Booyah.

I just had the opportunity to watch the PA video...first of all, the camera loves Hayley. Every pose, even if but for a second, conveys infinite emotions. A visually stunning video...very dreamlike.
It's a lot like her 'Who Painted the Moon Black' video. Although the images of sand and waves are shown on a backdrop whilst Hayley sings, at the end of the video she's seen walking down a beach.
Wuthering Heights is also well done. It's full of woe as the story plays out. Makes me want to read the book again.

The "Who Painted the Moon Black" video is on a VCD that I bought from "Ye Olde Corner Shoppe" back in Nov. This is where I bought my first Hayley CD. This one is the NZ/Int'l release. I'm not sure if the VCD will still be packaged w/ the CD though.

That particular item is out of stock, with no likelihood of any future supply becoming available.
Interestingly, when I raised the existence of the reissue with a VCD, Hayley's manager was under the impression that no such item existed. I have since given him full details of one which I found up for auction on eBay.

I was just wondering how HWI was started? I did the Internet Archive WayBackMachine and found the 1st page they have is from May 24 2003 I know why it started, because of Hayley’s Beautiful voice. Just wondering.

Hi xcv461,
I will answer your question later today but I think it justifies a new thread. Once I have made the post, I will place a link to it here.
