Silent Night duet - Aled & Hayley
As we've known for some time, Aled and Hayley have recorded a new version of "Silent Night", a duet exclusively for Aled's new "Christmas Album", released in the UK today. Frustrated at not being to hear it anywhere else, I considered buying the album but instead, I decided to purchase my first ever music download - of the "Silent Night" duet. And now, I have it - at the excellent bitrate of 192kbps (wma file) and even more excellent price of 79 pence, from www.tescodownloads.com. I have, of course, copied it to wav format to defeat the stupid copy protection (3 burns to CD and 3 burns to portable devices are allowed).
And it is simply MAGNIFICENT. Hayley sings the first verse beautifully, Aled sings the second and the rest of the song comprises a wonderful blending of their voices with Hayley often in descant mode. The arrangement is unique for the song. Oh, you can hear a 30 second sample of it (all Hayley!) on the tescodownloads website - albeit at a lower bitrate.
Aled's "adult" voice is growing on me, too. I may yet buy this or another of his albums; we shall see.
By the way, of all the UK music download sites I've tried over the last 6 months, tescodownloads has been BY FAR the simplest to use and it's encoded at the highest bitrate I've seen. Everything just worked - first time, every time. Payment is just the same as any other online store purchase - no messing about with subscriptions or buying credit in advance. As usual, I believe Tesco have got it absolutely right, first time - just like Hayley
PS: Thanks Keith, for creating the new board
