I recently ordered the 'Wuthering Heights' single from Japan, knowing that it was in some way different to the original version. It does not, for example, include the video. What arrived today was this:
1. Wuthering Heights (new version) This seems to be the version that appeared on the US release (but, to my knowledge, on no other). I believe this is the best version.
2. Pokarekare Ana (new version) Perdictably, perhaps, this is the vocalise version.
3. Hine e Hine (acoustic version) The only accompaniment being Robbie McIntosh playing acoustic guitar. It is basically the version that they recorded exclusively for Classic FM although not the same recording).
4. Away In A Manger I suspect this is not the same recording as appeared on some of the Special Editions. Further research is needed there!
5. Never Say Goodbye This sounds like the same version as appears on Pure.
When I placed the order, this disc was described as a single but, according to the insert, it is a mini album! Does that mean we've got to start a new sub-board for it? lol

I think the one you buy is the fourth one on this page. www.universal-music.co.jp/classics/hayley_westenra/discography.html This is the Official Universal Japanese Site. 'Hayley mini album' is written there, so I think it is a mini album, right? Some Japanese words are written there. My friend who can read some Japanese tells me the words means'only one song is the same version, others are new recordings'. So i think that one is no. 5

Yes, that's the one, Raymond and I think your assumption is correct too. Roger

I recently ordered the 'Wuthering Heights' single from Japan,... When I placed the order, this disc was described as a single but, according to the insert, it is a mini album! Does that mean we've got to start a new sub-board for it? lol Roger That's an interesting point Roger, I've always thought of it as a single but yes, the "mini album" description is different from Amazing Grace; that's a maxi single! In the UK, a CD with 5 different tracks would have to go in the album chart. But I don't think they would sell very well - so nobody releases them! A CD like Amazing Grace would count as a single as there are only three different tracks, plus a remix. So if the rules in Japan are similar, WH would be ineligible for the singles chart - and that probably explains why it never made the top 200 i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCompetition in Japan among foreign albums is tougher than among foreign singles, so it was always going to be hard for WH to chart. I really don't know what possessed Universal Japan to release WH in such an unusual format - and as it failed, I don't think we'll ever see it done again by Hayley... anywhere! Does that help you to decide if we need another board? i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave

Hi Folks. I just got this mini album and was about to stick it in the biscuit tin with the other collectibles when I changed my mind and decided to play it instead. To my delight I find there are beautifully different versions of Hine e Hine and Wuthering Heights & maybe others but I did'nt pick up the differences I wish Decca would provide recording dates with the info for these tracks,, so that people would realise they are different recordings and are worth collecting in themselves and not just another copy of tracks a fan might already have on say Pure or Odyssey, Oh I am in bad form with Decca today but I'm not allowed to use bad language here so feel free to make it up yourselves comet

Hi Comet, Your post got me curious.... it seems like this mini-album is really worth having. I did some searching on the internet, and the album is no longer available from amazon.com. However, it can still be ordered from www.cdjapan.co.jp(and obviously, I just did exactly that!) i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifJeroen

Hi Comet, I also think.... (and therefore I am).... but I don't think so! Frankly, up until this morning I wasn't even aware of the existence of the Wuthering Heights mini-album, let alone a Wuthering Heights video. I haven''t been a Hayley fan for very long (I discovered her music about six months ago) so I guess I still have alot to learn.... By the way, during those six months I've found out that Hayley has appeared on television numerous times. I missed out on all those performances. Do you (or does anyone else) know of a way to get some of her tv performances on DVD or video? I've been looking everywhere on the internet, but so far the Live from New Zealand DVD (and the Celtic Woman DVD) are all I've been able to find... Jeroen
