Hi all,
Some words about live8 concerts:
I believe, we are all full impressed of the live8 concerts yesterday. I was watching TV from 2 p.m. to 1:20 a.m. today in the morning. My channel was Phoenix-TV. They broadcasted from Berlin, London, Tokyo and all other places. I think the concert from London was the most important one. You could feel the atmosphere from Hyde Park in your living room. And 150,000 people – this is really enthusiastic background.
Also I think at London’s platform were the best music acts like Madonna, Robby Williams and Pink Floyd of course. I’d like Pink Floyd very much but not the very first years. I think their best time was by “Dark side of the moon”, “Wish you were here”, “The Wall” and “The Division Bell”. After the frontier was open in 1989 they were playing “The Wall” and later I visited a concert near our Olympic Stadium then they ware playing too. It was summer, warm weather, we were laying on the ground and you could feel the basses of the band in your body. Also I remember the great concert in Venice at the beginning of the 80ths (?), which I watched on TV only.
And what is the massage from yesterday? Campino, the front man of the german group “The dead pants” yesterday said: “This is not a rock concert – this is a political demonstration!!!” And what are our conclusions? I think, our conclusion should be to discuss, how we can support Hayley’s bicycle project for Ghana yet bigger as in the past. I don’t want forget to thank Keith (and some other gentlemen of you too?) for their work to put information about Hayley’s UNICEF project obvious at HWI homepage. My thinking is: what we can do, that more people get this information about the situation in Ghana, about the bicycle project and Hayley’s engagement for this as UNICEF ambassador. Let’s discuss how we can reach our target to make more money available for this project and at the same time to improve and rise up Hayley’s popularity.
Many thanks in advance for your engagement.
Greetings, Lothar

Roger, I have now received a reply from UNICEF UK regarding GIFT AID. Dear Andrew
Thank you for your email enquiry. Unfortunately, the UK Committee for UNICEF are only able to claim the tax back from the Inland Revenue (Gift Aid) on donations that we receive. Therefore, we can only claim on the donations that you send direct to us.
I hope this has clarified the situation for you. However, should you have any further enquiries relating to this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.

For all the world’s children Health, Education, Equality, Protection I have just added another tricycle to the NZ fund and intend to claim back the tax at the end of the year. I shall add the extra 28% when I receive it. In the meantime we shall have to ask Hayley to second herself to UNICEF UK when she is in UK residence.

Hi Drew,
Thank you for making the enquiry and for publishing the reply. It is disappointing to learn that UNICEF NZ are unable to claim UK tax on the donations they receive but at least you have shown how individuals can overcome the situation.
Hayley's latest project (if it is to change) still has not been confirmed. We will publish an update here whenever we are able.
Roger

Hi Grant,
I think the reason you haven't seen it before is because it's new. Notice the music in the background? It's Hayley's version of "Songbird" which a clip of has only just been released to the public (at least that we're aware of).
But you're right - that's a very nice video.

Whilst Hayley's Video was only added 12 hours ago, the following (without Hayley) was added 7 months ago. Curiously, it also uses "Songbird" as the backing. So the recording has been around for a while. Global Parents

It doesn't sound like Eva Cassidy's famous version either. Perhaps it's the original by Fleetwood Mac? *off to investigate* Cheers, Dave EditInvestigations complete. Problem solved. The original UNICEF Ad (posted by Drew) with Songbird as the backing music is Eva Cassidy's version. The new UNICEF Ad featuring Hayley is, of course, Hayley's new version.

Hello Drew & Roger,
Drew thank you for the info.
And Roger please this in Hayley-Westenra-INTERNATIONAL
INTERNATIONAL...
At times this seems like a U.K. site, I understand, this is where Hayley does a good percentage of her concerts, and this is where she lives.
But please don't forget us who live in the USA & other countries, there are many of us here, and when you speak with Hayley what Drew has posted, can you please do the same for us here in the US & how we can get involved, how to give (penpal, Western Union, by mail).
I know I would like to help, and knowingly that this is legit because Hayley is involved.
Please don't make this site like ClassicFM, when they have a charity affair, (at their last auction, which I gave), I am not able to make any biddings because they really don't make it conveinent for anyone outside the U.K. even though they are on the World Wide Web.
I understand when all of you from the U.K. rave about her concerts because that is where basically she performs. I had a touch of that excitement when she performed in America for the July 4th. I get excited when one of her songs appears on some television show.
Again Please Roger remember all of us.
And no I am not really mad but I do want to be involved.
Thank You for Your Concern, Howard USA

I'm sorry Howard but I really don't understand what you are saying. In what, exactly, do you wish to be involved and in what way have we ever "forgotten" our US visitors and members?
Roger Hayley Westenra INTERNATIONAL (which, unless I am very much mistaken, usually includes the US).

Roger Hayley Westenra INTERNATIONAL (which, unless I am very much mistaken, usually includes the US). Hi Roger, If I may, I will chime in here for a moment..... I have sensed this myself at times - though I must hasten to add that there is very little I can think of that you could do about it. The site features a UK based artist, who does most of her high profile appearances in the UK. It was conceived and put on line by two Brits, and both administrators and the global moderator are British. I dont think anyone has made a concerted effort to make this anything but an international site - but I think it is also true that the site was named (and envisoned) before her career evolved in the direction that it did.
