Well I'll be darned! I thought this proposal would be met with universal praise, considering its lighthearted intent. Just goes to show some of us take things far more seriously than others. Personally, I think it would have been nifty to bestow bragging rights to our favourite commenters and photographers. I mean, a Hayley Award isn't exactly something to sneer at. In any event, all the posters above are to be commended for their thoughtful remarks. An honourary Hayley goes to all just for taking part! Hi Steve, .... And praise is richly deserved. The spirit of your reply makes me feel almost sorry to have been one who started to burst the bubble (of fun) before it got into the air. Then again maybe it's true that, "It's the serious person whose heart is the lightest and whose laugh is the heartiest ...........". Work that one out if you can. Sorry, but I must graciously decline your 'honorary Hayley'. 'Wouldn't fit well with the (serious) views I expressed. On the other hand, I'm very honoured by the compliment. Best Regards, Paddy P.S. The next "honorary Hayley" goes to Steve for his next proposal ... (more anon) ....

Hey Paddy, .....and a friendly "Thank You" to you and to everyone in the great country or Ireland!!! Keep smiling! Best, Gene Hi Gene! Thank you! A typical Irish reply to a compliment is: "And the same to you and many more of them!" Sounds even better in Irish. Maybe, if I said you deserved a 'Hayley Smilie Award' (for smiling and good humour), it would keep me on topic? Best regards from Ireland. Paddy

I apsolutely LOVE the idea. Maybe a sister site or sister forum would have to be created to do this- I think it should be a yearly thing- and I'll help make awards (pics of trophys!) and judge! But then again, I'd love to enter too!! P.S.- could I use this idea for my Lynn Hilary forum? Unless I hear otherwise, I'll take it as a yes!

Thanks for the laugh, Gene! Richard Hi Richard, You are welcome! Tinker Bell has made a big hit with my cat. That's him in my avatar. Unfortunately, Tinker doesn't like cat food and the cat doesn't like pixi-dust. Chances are that she will be returning to your shoulder shortly..... Best regards, Gene

Hi everyone I'm just catching up on this thread. I must say that I too was very hesitant to comment on Steve's proposal initially - for the same reasons others were holding back no doubt. However, I was one of the first to post and I now feel that I commented without considering all the angles. Having read other comments from Paddy, Steve H, Rodders & Richard in particular, I tend to agree that a competition like this could affect in some way the very friendly "feel" ( if thats the right word) of our forum. Gene, how did you manage to scoop all the awards when nothings been set up Your post made me laugh anyway Steve, thanks for the idea. As you say, everyone who has posted has considered carefully thier reply - just goes to prove perhaps the level of loyalty and dedication we all have towards our great forum Best wishes Mark

Will we ever do the HWI awards for fun? There wouldn't have to be a prize

Hi Northern Lights, I feel sure you have seen the reply I made HERE in which I said any such awards would only be in fun. The sad truth is that something like that would require a huge amount of research in order to judge the winner of each category and I regret, we simply don't have the time. Also, even in fun, I would not want to "judge" one member against another because, despite our best intentions, someone could still get hurt... And it might be me! Roger

Hi Northern Lights, It's not a 'No' just a 'not in the foreseeable future' - We never say no here! Steve H

ok, so not in the forseeable future.
that's good, because HWI hasn't taught me the meaning of no yet. I always have to say minime (Latin for no)
