I'd like to see a separate area of the HWI forums reserved for photos.
Here are some great new pics of Hayley:
[Edit] The url Steve gave has been discovered to link off to other sites and Spyware Doctor warned of possible danger. Therefore the live link has been removed. Incidentally, these were not particularly new pictures as they have been available for some time on the Wire Image website. Roger

Hello Steve! Thank you for the link to those lovely photographs of Hayley. There is a thread for favourite pictures which I recently moved from the "Hayley Questions" board to "Miscellaneous", but I agree that perhaps there should be a separate board devoted to pictures of Hayley and her family. This thread and the existing pictures thread could then be moved to that board. It would also encourage more people to post their pictures of Hayley. In the immortal words of Lloyd Grossman, Roger or Dave, it's over to you! Incidentally Steve, are you the same Steve Macdonald who used to be a regular poster here but disappeared several months ago? If so, welcome back! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes from London, Richard

Thank you Richard and Hi Steve,
Yes, I like the idea of a separate area for photographs and they may indeed merit a Board of their own.
At the same time, I also like the idea of posting photographs to the relevant existing boards throughout the Forum to keep them in context with each discussion.
What I would prefer not to do is to encourage too much unnecessary duplication. As Richard has indicated, we do already have a "Favourite Pics" thread which I would like to think is a good compromise.
Any thoughts, Dave? Or anybody else?
Roger

Although I've considered asking for a board too, I think the favourite pics thread is sufficient. However, I think the thread should be renamed simple to 'Hayley Pictures.' Oksana

This sounds like a good idea at first sight but there are a few things we need to remember (some have already been mentioned): - The photos wouldn't be all on one or two pages, like the gallery pointed to by Steve. In a board, they'd be spread across multiple threads. An index page with thumbnails to all the actual photo posts would solve that problem but I'm not volunteering to maintain it! - Within each thread, they wouldn't be close together. The existing photos thread has four pages at present, 12 posts containing unique photos (average 3 per page), 39 posts containing quoted duplicates or no photo at all. I think there are plenty of "ordinary" threads all over the forum with that density of unique photos. - I'll bet a tenner that most of the photos would be or would end up duplicated in one or more threads elsewhere in the forum. - the existing thread hasn't been well used - about 12 posts containing photos unique in the thread (13 actual photos) in nearly two years. - there are too many separate boards in the forum anyway at the moment, I think we agree on that. Some combining/culling has started but an extra board created for what is as yet an unproven need (I think) won't help matters. Therefore I'm not in favour of a new board for photos at the moment. If people who like the idea can make the existing thread busy without duplication, others may join in and then is, I think, the time to consider if a board or sub board is needed. Oh dear, reading my post back it looks so negative, I didn't intend it to be when I started - honest! Let's call this the case for the prosecution - now let's hear the case for the defence Cheers, Attorney Dave

Hello Dave! After thinking overnight about this one, I must say I agree with all your comments. Possibly the reason the "Favourite Hayley Pictures" thread has been little used is because it was on the "Hayley Questions" board, so many members may not have known of its existence. I suggest we wait and see if more posts will be made to it now I've moved it to a more appropriate and prominent position on the "Miscellaneous" board. Incidentally, nobody spotted my (ahem) deliberate mistake in my previous post, which I've now corrected. It was Lloyd Grossman who said "It's over to you", not David Frost! Bye for now, Richard

Oh, I noticed it Richard. I just didn't like to say anything! ....And, if you believe that, folks, you'll believe anything! I agree we should not make any decision concerning the suggested Photo board until we asses the level of interest now that Richard has moved the thread to Miscellaneous. Meanwhile, further comments are welcome. Roger

Hi everyone.
This seems the most logical thread into which to paste the suggestion I threw out in passing (off topic!) regardng the superb pictures being posted under Cadogan Hall.
We are building an absolutely superb library of photographs. If space ever becomes a problem, can we ensure there is ample warning about losing any archives, so we can have a chance to build our own private libraries before loss?
There is no point in doing that while these pics remain accessible and it is my view that members of WHI have the opportunity to build something that is unique and wonderfully suppportive of Hayley as a reference point.
Some time in the future some picture agency might pay royalties for this work, in which case, if members posting are agreeable, such right could be given for a fee and due acknoweldgement of HWI (and the inidivdual member) to Hayley's charitable interests.
Just a thought in passing--oh! Okay. I'll copy and paste to 'Suggestions'! Peter

Hi Peter, I am not aware that space is ever likely to become a problem provided we do not exceed the ProBoards limit for individual pictures and keep duplication to a minimum. Should it be, the main site holds the vast majority of them and so it acts as a back-up for the forum and vice versa (although the main site has it's own back-up files). In the unlikely event of some unforeseen disaster, no doubt the original owners of the photographs, and those of us who are already building up our own libraries would be willing to help out. However, if there are any shots that you would particularly not wish to risk losing, I would advise you save them now. I'm not suggesting I do that too much and the fact that my clicking finger is worn out is purely coincidental! Roger
