Don't panic! According to Joe, the ProBoards server which handles the code for "members online today" was down yesterday. All seems to be working now but it will not display the full list until it has been restored for a full 24 hours. Roger |

two minutes ago it was showing 78 guests!
Is there any way of telling whether or not this is factual?

Hi Grant, There isn't any way of guaranteeing its reliability but, according to the TrafficFile statscounter (currently displaying 188076) there have been exactly 200 visitors since 10:30pm last night (when I took the previous reading). Whenever I looked at Users Online this morning, it usually showed anything between 5 and 10 and sometimes less. Assuming they each stayed online for a reasonable time, it would take a fairly significant burst of activity to achieve 200 (which I believe is fairly accurate). Therefore, 101 at one time certainly sounds possible. No stats counter is ever 100 per cent reliable but it is a good indicator. If it is not accurate, one would hope it was consistently not accurate! That would still give a fairly accurate trend. Er, I think!  Yours statistically, Roger |

Wow, just now when I was loading the page, I was told that the server was busy and that I should try again 30 seconds later! It was the first time I encountered this since my joining HWI. Surely we're having a busy day today!
