Hi Everyone,
I have been debating about creating this topic for a while, mainly because of the difference in style of music and also the fact that I feel that I may be on my own, but I have seen one or two other topics about non-classical artists so I thought, why not?
Before I got into classical, the artist that I probably listened to the most, and still listen to quite a bit of now is KT Tunstall.
I have liked her music ever since I first heard ‘Other Side Of The World’ a couple of years ago. Then I simply fell in love with her music after looking her up and hearing ‘Another Place To Fall’, ‘Suddenly I See’ and ‘Under The Weather’.
Her debut album ‘Eye To The Telescope’ is just fantastic, I think that every one of those songs could easily hold their own as singles. She recently followed that up with ‘Drastic Fantastic’, I don’t think that it quite lives up to ‘Eye To The Telescope’ but is still a pretty good second album.
However for me, KT’s best music is on an album called ‘KT Tunstal’s Accoustic Extravanganza’ recorded live with her band, in just a day and a half, in a living room of a cottage on the Isle of Skye. It doesn’t include any of her hit songs but instead features a collection of cover versions, b-sides and album tracks, all reworked as stripped down acoustic numbers.
I would describe her music more of a ‘soft rock’ than pop, some of the songs even have a bit of a country and jazz feel to them too. KT has a fantastic voice for this style of music, and she also writes her own songs and plays her own instruments too, she is a very talented all round musician.
I feel that this performance (one that many say launched her career) epitomises what KT and her music is all about – www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYEU91d8ngc&feature=related
Any other KT Tunstall fans or anyone who likes her music?
