Hi all,
Thought I might share some interesting news that Sarah Brightman is starring in the film 'Repo! The Genetic Opera'. It's a gothic horror opera musical. It also stars Alex Vega, Paul Sorvino, Antony Head, and bizarrely, Paris Hilton.
It has been tipped to be a cult classic when it comes out April 2008.
There is a trailer, but I will post it to the mods so they can decide if they want it linked to or not. It's sure to be an 18 certificate and this applies to the trailer. It's very graphic, and there is plenty of blood.
It's basically set in 2051 where there is an epidemic of organ failures killing tens of millions of people. A BioTech company comes to the world's aid by selling out healthy organs - but at a price. If you keep up repayments - fine. If you fall behind the repo man finds you and takes back what belongs to the company. It is what it suggests.
Sarah plays Blind Mag, a woman who was born without eyes. GeneCo give her eyes but only if she keeps singing in their operas. I don't know much about her plot line, but she decides that she will sing for the last time, and her god daughter (Shilo) rushes to save her from the Repo! man (who she doesn't know to be her own father).
EDIT: there were tonnes of grammatical errors. Der.

As ProBoards allow members as young as 13, I think I would prefer not to include it on the forum. No doubt the film will appeal to many. As for me, I was about to have lunch but I seem to have gone off the idea! Roger

I thought that would be the outcome. I can barely watch it, let alone any 13 year-olds! Although I guess older people underestimate what young people would enjoy and what disturbs or frightens them. Anyone remember 'Where The Wild Things Are' by Maurice Sendak being banned from libraries?! Personally, if I watched that clip when I was 13 I think I would have nightmares for months. Many fans of Sarah have turned against her for deciding to do this, but I just see it for what it is; a camp horror film that everyone involved had a lot of fun making. She apparently absolutely loved the experience of making a film and dressing up in outrageous costumes! She is 47 now and it's so good that she is still trying new and different things. That's how I look at it, anyway. I think I will give it a miss though. It's so far from what I would normally watch! I think it will have a lot of fans though - things like this attracts loyal fans since they are so rare. Any other rock horror opera musicals you can think of?! Sweeny Todd, I guess? Sorry for ruining your lunch, Roger! I did feel bad exposing it to you! If anyone is interested in the trailer, it's easily searchable on YouTube, but I feel I have to warn again; it really is quite sick! Nicola Edit I've locked this thread now, the main Sarah Brightman thread is here Dave
