Best way of telling is how their album did. If it didn't sell, they get dropped. It's simple as that. Relevant to this is my estimate for the total sales of Will Martin's "A New World" - 25,000 or less. It reached no. 21 in the pop album chart, was in the top 75 for 3 weeks, was in the Classical Artist top 20 for only 8 weeks (plus one in the January sales). It was no. 24 in the Classic FM chart of 2008, 10 places below Hayley's River of Dreams (which was of course a "best of" whereas his was his debut). Dave

I saw Will Martin being interviewed on TV here in NZ a few months ago and he said then that he and his record company had parted ways.
Being from New Zealand I do like to support local artists, but I felt that neither Will nor Elizabeth Marvelly were star quality. Elizabeth's album debuted in the charts here at number 8 I think (-it was heavily promoted with her agent Gray Bartlett saying she was better than Hayley!!)) but quickly fell out of the charts. NZers bought Hayley's and Yulia's albums by the truckload, so people here will support local crossover singers, so I just don't think people rated Elizabeth very highly as a singer. Will's album did better but still didn't sell enough to satisfy the record company I guess.

I'm all okay for different opinions, but to hold that one is shocking. I think I have made my feelings on Elizabeth Marvelly clear in the past (this is my write up on her). It's actually just insulting an outstanding talent like Hayley. I sound like a fangirl, but seriously, claiming EM to be better than Hayley is a bit far reaching! I really like Will Martin. His album was nothing special, but I love his voice and would have liked to hear more from him.

Nicola- I should clarify exactly what Gray Bartlett said. He discovered both Hayley and Yulia. When he was promoting Elizabeth he stated that she was his greatest find yet. By implication that made her better than Hayley and Yulia in his opinion, and it gave Elizabeth a huge boost. She was everywhere in the media and there was a lot of interest because both both Hayley and Yulia were hugely popular here in New Zealand.

Got front row tickets for me and my mom. Will be giving them to her as a gift on Mother's Day. I was going to do that last year with Hayley's concert before it got cancelled! Can't wait for this one though. Dori

Well, that's a bit of misleading PR!
But I'm envious. I would have liked to have seen Will in concert. But I doubt he'll ever be back in the UK.

Why do you think he won't go back to the UK? Sure he will!

Because he lost his record deal. He won't have funding to come over here. xx

Hi all,
I went to Will's "Will Martin: By Request" show last night. Absolutely fabulous show. I can only hope Hayley will have a show back in Auckland soon, just like this one! I really hope they perform together soon, either on an album or in a show!
I will post photos soon.
