Hi ! Guys ! I am just wondering , has anyone here heard of the Portugese group "Madredeus" They are a singing group and they are HUGE in Portugal and Brazil . And as a side note , I think that the lead vocalist of that group , who is a famous songbird called Ms Teresa (sth) , sounds a lot like Hayley . Any feedback would be appreciated ! :> :> :>

Never heard of them! I don't think they're famous here, in France.

Bonjour Madame ! :> :> You can vist their official website at : www.madredeus.com/ And you can try listening to Madame Teresa sing . In some ways , I think that she sounds a lot like Hayley . I don't know whether it is her tone colour / the sound of her voice that resembles Hayley's . Just like Hayley , Madame Teresa has a very sweet , pure voice with a very beautiful sound . Maybe our webmates from Britain know something more .

Sorry, I've never heard of them either. I heard a couple of clips from the website which sounded pleasant but I can learn nothing about them as the text was in Portuguese - even though I selected the English version! Terasa's solo album is called 'Obrigado' which I believe is Portuguses for "thankyou" but the spelling, with a final "o", is the male form as though said by a man! Good luck to them, I say! Roger

Hi everyone, I was looking for some information here in the forum about Yulia Townsend (I've just discovered her about a week ago, I saw some videos in youtube, I was so impressed that I have ordered her first cd called "Yulia"), when I saw this topic about "Madredeus" and I am so delighted to see here in the forum something about my country. I've to say that I am not a big fan of Portuguese music, but "Madredeus" was something completely different (Teresa Salgueiro voice is very beautiful), it's a shame that they have split up last year, when Teresa left the group. According to her official site: "...Quickly became recognized internationally as one of the great Portuguese female voices. Between 1987-2007 with "Madredeus" has recorded more than 12 Cd's that were awarded with several prizes, more than 5 million disc's sold worldwide (something never reached here in Portugal), with tours in Europe, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, USA and China. Teresa Salgueiro sang in the most prestigious halls of the world, doing more than 900 shows..." Hmm, interesting. She reminds me much more of Lynn Hilary of Celtic Woman and Anuna than she does of Hayley though.

Hi Martin, Thanks for your thoughts. I never heard any song sung by Lynn Hilary, I've to check it out. I totally agree with you, Hayley's voice is unique, for me the best voice in the world, there's nothing similar. It just occurs to me, and what about a duet with Hayley and Teresa Salgueiro, Hayley should be noticed here in Portugal (that wouldn't make a big difference we are a small Country-Market ) it would reach perhaps Spain. Well I can always dream. Can't I? i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes, Paulo Correia

I've heard them, but do not like them much. I prefer Dulce Pontes, her passionate stile is wonderful. I recommend her "Cançao da Mar". I had the chance to see her live in Girona one or two years ago, I only hope Hayley could also come!!!!!

Hi Jordi, Thank you for your comment, I've to say that I am not a big fan of Dulce Pontes, but she have a great voice and "Canção do Mar" is indeed a great song. Maybe a duet with Hayley and Dulce would also be nice (something for Hayley become more well known here in our two Countries). I'm too hoping that one day Hayley returns to Spain or Portugal (OH! My God, I am dreaming again! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif). Best wishes, Paulo Correia
