But the goal is to introduce her to music she probably wouldn't stumble upon unless it were deliberately placed in her path. The possibilities for some incredibly rich offerings are out there. That's what I tried to do, but I cannot say with how much success.

This is a hard one As my musical tastes have always been fairly insular (and since Hayley - pretty much single track ) it's difficult to know whether I could add anything useful. But I'll try. Marianne Faithfull was a favourite of mine. I rarely bought LP's but had several singles "As Tears Go By"; "This Little Bird" "Come and Stay With Me" I still have these on tape (copied from my reel to reel Dansette purchased through Mum's club for £16-7s-6d!) Then there's the Tornado's and "Telstar" Instrumental I know, but I'd love to hear Hayley put some words to it. Ahh - What about Sandy Denny "North Country Grassman" that's an LP I did buy. Grant

Ha.
John Miles song Music. Quote below
"Music was my first love, and it will be my last, music of the future and music of the past......"
This was a fabulous piece arranged like a piece of classical music, quite dramatic for pop music it got quite a lot of airplay at the time.
Hey tornado you just reminded me of "Trains and boats and planes by Billy J Kramer" It's a song from the 60s about modern transport taking people away, but also hoping it will bring them back too.
I had leaving on a jet plane as John Denver I Think ?

I had leaving on a jet plane as John Denver I Think ? comet Yes, he did it (originally, I think, but not sure), but Dana has done a great version of it. It's far more moving in my opinion. If anyone is interested in finding out more about her, her website is www.danawinner.netI fixed the link by removing the full stop. Richard

Denver wrote the song originally for Peter Paul and Mary. He later went on to record it himself of course.
JD is one of my top 5.....

Jon, haven't you found that certain forums topics are like "required reading" because if you skip them you'll be missing out on essential discussions that enrich our experience as fans of Hayley? Well, my other thread is not one of those.

...And one she probably has Joan Baez - Diamonds and Rust Heh, as the daughter of a gemologist she's no doubt familiar with songs like "Diamonds and Rust." Also the music of Jewel, the Stones (especially the song "Ruby Tuesday") and possibly Bizet's "The Pearl Fishers." Ditto anything that's gone gold or platinum.

John Denver has been my favourite singer for about fourteen years now... I own just about everything he ever released and he's the reason I started playing guitar and singing myself. He also inspired me to be a better human being. Then, about a year ago, I discovered Hayley's music... It's difficult to say which of the two is my favourite. I'm secretly hoping that Hayley will record one of John's songs some day (she already did Both Sides Now which John also sang during his Mitchell Trio years). Peace, Jeroen

Hi Folks. Re John Denver. on Annie's song there is a sound like sighing or something in the background I never quite figured it out. Originally I thought it was because of warped or badly pressed vinyl, but it's on the cd as well comet

The first JD album on which 'Jet Plane' appeared was Rhymes and Reasons in 1972. Jeroen, I have 23 original albums by John Denver and numerous compilations. Can you beat that? I saw him in concert at the London Palladium and at the Wembley Arena in the late 70s. Alas, I never got to meet him. If anyone would like to start a John Denver thread, please feel free. Roger

Hi Folks. I suppose part of the reason for a thread like this is to suggest music to each other as much as to suggest music for Hayley. It is also of course to show each other what impeccable taste in music we ALL HAVE which is quite obvious because we all listen to Hayley. Now I must get back to my Metallica and Black Sabbath- Fluff and embryo are brill. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAC/DC ain't noise polution, SLADE RULZ an all that stuff.
