I have been wondering if I should start a new thread for this - in the end I decided to put it here, as Andrea deserves a bit of attention again.
Tomorrow's (July 1) Concert for Diana is going to be a very interesting experience. One artist listed is Julian Lloyd Webber - except that under that umbrella comes a host of artists singing a medley of his songs - including Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman and Josh Groban.
One artist, whose name I have nor been able to detect in any publicity related to this concert is Andrea Ross. I have inside information that she will participate as well, and seeing Andrew Lloyd Webber's involvement with kickstarting her career, it wouldn't surprise me if she would be in this medley as well.
Another participant in the medley will be the winner of the recent Amazing Technicolor Coat competition - his name escapes me at the moment.
As I hav just purchased a DVD/HD recorder today, this will be the first programme I will record!

Seems like a great young talent to me. Watched "Both Sides now" on Classic FM TV and then her video for "Moon River" was on next and it was very good. Sounds like its going to be good. Like the guy who won Amazing Technicolor Coat competition. He seems very good.
DVD/HD? lucky you. Still using the good on VHS for mow. I will be watching too.

Thanks for letting us know Gerrit.. I'm watching the show right now (well, I was before I came on the computer!) and I can't wait to see her, Josh Groban, and Andrea Bocelli.

Unfortunately, Andrea only took a very minor role in a duet with Connie Fisher - I think that perhaps as a protegé of Andrew Lloy Webber she was only added at the last moment. Still, she got to perform before 63000 people live - which will stand her in good stead.
I also liked Andrea Bocelli's Music of The Night and the Josh Groban/Sarah Brightman duet That's All I ask Of You, and the three Josephs were also very enjoyable. I didn't like the Jesus Christ Superstar interpretation.

Hi Gerrit !
I was glad to have recorded this on videotape. The Concert for Diana is being broadcast live on VH-1; and it was on the hour-delayed broadcast on VH-1 Classic that I recorded the Webber medley.
Andrea Ross was on very briefly indeed! Bocelli was brilliant as always. Josh and Sarah's duet was not to be missed!
I liked seeing Donny Osmond and the children on "Any Dream Will Do". Very glad to see ALW as well.
Looks like the concert is winding down...the presenter's got two minutes of space to fill.

Hi Joe,
I am currently busy editing most of the Andrew Lloyd Webber songs, after having transferred them from my recorder.
I am also busy digitising a 90 minute concert given by Andrea Bocelli way back in 2001, the Statue of Liberty Concert. This was two months prior to September 11, so the Twin Towers are prominently in view. From that point of view it is quite a historic recording - It also requires a lot of editing, as I received it from a friend in the US on a NTSC tape. Up till now I hadn't succeeded in digitising it - but I got it recorded with my HD/DVD recorder. Except that the aspect ratio has been changed to PAL, and a black bar added along the bottom. As a result, the people in the video don't look quite right ...

Hi All, Here's a link to another performance by Andrea (I received the link from Bill, Andrea's dad). On November 18 (while I was busy meeting Holly Holyoake and her parents in Wales), this version of The Prayer was broadcast on Songs of Praise. In my view, the video did require some editing (and the volume of the original sound recording was just a little too high), but here is an exquisitely beautiful version of The Prayer, performed by an exquisitely beautiful young performer with an exquisitely beautiful voice! www.classicalrelatedperformances.com/andrea_r/theprayer181107.wmvGerrit

Its great to see so many Hwi members have similair taste in music. One of my favourite tunes from my younger days was White Horses from the TV show. The version by Andrea is better than the original. For all you old timers from the 60s the English dubbing version of the show was lost!.Andrea's version had a very limited number of plays in the uk as part of a Clarkes shoe campaign on the TV.After hearing this I found out the artist and bought the album.
Stephen.
