This is just a flying visit. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI have listened to the EP of showtunes. Because basically thats what it is: tunes from shows. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI'm not keen on 'High School Musical' I'm afraid. I believe the song she sings from that is more suited to Vanessa Hudgens. Popular is a perfect example of her stage voice. Her voice is basically the same style as the woman who won the Maria contest which was on the telly recently (only younger sounding). I liked The Boyzone version of 'No Matter What' but Andrea's version is a little bit weak in my opinion. A bit disappointed there. Last but not least is 'White Horses'. Not a favorite song of mine, but yet I found myself enjoying it. Very old fashion sounding; Carpenters-ish - you'll know what I mean when you hear it. I like. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAs a demonstration of her stage voice, its effective but I'm really looking forward to her album proper as the song selection so far is interesting and she can put a lot of emotion in to those songs.

Hi Sal, Thanks for the link. You are right, it is a good advert. Despite earlier posts, this was the first time I had heard Andrea. She has a lovely voice and is definitely one to watch in the future. Sorry I didn't reply to your earlier question, Krystin but, yes, she certainly looks like Daisy Chute. Does she sound like her? Well, maybe a bit. Roger

Hi Everybody, I have just seen the Andrea Ross Video on Classic FM TV, and I was very impressed. She sang Moon River, the title track of her album which is being released on the 5th March. Not often do I sit up and take note of a new voice, but this one really made me get up and watch. I am glad that its not being released on the 26th Feb Its Hard to believe that she is only fifteen years old. Her album is also a Universal Classics and Jazz release. www.andreaross.com/I will get the CD, and report back! Steve H

All else does not matter to me when Andrew Lloyd Webber backs an artist up. Whenever he does that, I buy the album, no questions asked. He brought Sarah Brightman, Keedie and Shonagh Daly into my life. I tend to trust the guy! By the way, from what I can tell, he does keep promises. When he met Keedie, he asked her to sing his theme tune. She said she didn't have a label or manager so she couldn't. He said to get back in touch with him when she does. She forgot about it (she didn't quite believe him!). As soon as she got both secured, Andrew got in contact with her straight away (not vice verda as you might expect). He also promised to write her a song with Tim Rice, which he has also done for her, despite her, again, not having management or a deal. I think that's downright nice! I haven't heard Andrea yet, but you can bet that I will. She is on my list, along with Natasha Marsh.

Here is coverage of this morning's appearance on Heaven and Earth (Right-click the image and select Save Target As). The video contains a brief interview and a performance of The Prayer (plus an interesting announcement in the middle about next week's programme - which I feel I may have to record again ....) Gerrit

I had set my recorder to record today's Heaven and Earth Show (to capture Russell Watson's appearance), and as I always do, I set the recording schedule to start about 5 minutes early. I therefore captured the end of Sunday Morning AM, and surprise, surprise, the recording now started all of 5 seconds before Andrea came into view, performing What The World Needs Now .... I didn't know she would be on AM (it wsn't announced on her website) she that was just luck. From the BBC site I found out that earlier in AM, there was an interview with Andrea as well as with Andrew Lloyd Webber, and a low quality version of the entire show was available for dowload. I extracted the interview, and added both videos to a new download page at classicalrelaedperformances.com: www.classicalrelatedperformances.com/andreaross.htmHere is the interviewThe picture below is a link to the song:

My impressions of her new album:
Andrea has a great Broadway voice, so she's in the zone when singing 'Popular' - Her voice is clear, dynamic and makes an impact. But there is plenty of diversity to her voice: she sings a gentle version of 'Whistle Down the Wind'; 'Songbird' is her own unique version; the last few bars of 'You Raise Me Up' are very up-tempo, not just a copycat version, Andrea sings it well. 'What The World Needs Now' is Andrea's 'happy' voice. I think that is the best version I've heard of that song. Its 'One World' that sums up Andrea's voice however. The effort and emotion in her voice clear for all to hear.

I am from the USA and, of course love Hayley. By chance a friend told me about Andrea and I listen to a clip of her andright away ordered her CD. I agree that some of her music is a little old for her, but that will pass. My problem is that so many teenage stars, especially in the USA, get famous and then go down the drain. IF she has the strong family support that Hayley does, then she will be fine. Until then here is another young lady with God given talent that I hope she willbe popular not only here but all over the world. John
