Hello folks, I have this week been listening to the debut album from Angelis ahead of the All Angels release next week. I have to agree with Dave's comments on the skimpy production and have yet to hear them sing live. But I have to say that as a CD for easy listening to in the car, where the quality we are used to on Hayley's recordings is not required, I must admit I rather like it. My particular favorite tracks are 1. Angel (originally by Sarah McLachlan) and track 6. Even though you are gone. I like the harmony at the end of Pokarekare Ana too but for me nobody will ever sing this like our Hayley, but it's a complement to Hayley that it has been included, it will always be her signature song. It gets 7 out of 10 from me, based on that it is easy to listen to and although I agree with Dave that it surely could not be classified as Classical, I like the mix of choir music in there. Steve H (Taking time of from photography to be a record critic, perhaps I should stick to what I know )

I visited their website (Angelis I mean)- They're good- but I think, at least for me, I prefer All Angels. I'm not sure why- I think it just might be the quality of the voices in All Angels- they blend so well together. I especially like "Songbird"- the way they sing it is lovely. -Elizabeth

Hi Steve and Elizabeth, Yes it's a nice "easy listening" album and it will do very well, with the massive amount of TV promo that we've seen in the last week. It will end up somewhere between no. 2 and no. 4 in the chart. (above Katherine Jenkins) and Mr Cowell knows exactly what he has to do to pick up the casual Supermarket buyers. But in classical/crossover music terms, it is not even close to the standard of production of Katherine's album, any Hayley album, or All Angels' album... all of which have at least 9 minutes more running time as a bonus. My concern as I explained on the AAI forum is that the album seems to have been produced on the cheap and because of this, people are being ripped off by the hype. I will explain. There are 11 tracks, less than usual. The running time is 39 minutes, far less than usual and less than many of my 1960s vinyl albums. And corners seem to have been cut on the backing tracks - I hesitate to say instrumental because I don't think many of them have instruments playing, they sound too similar for that and most of them (not all) sound synthesized to my ears (can anyone "musical" who's heard it all comment on this?). And while Angelis' voices are pleasant enough, they sound "breathy" on most tracks but of course you won't hear this in the car or if it's just background music. As singers, they are not up to the standard of All Angels (they are much younger for a start!). So while it IS pleasant background music I'm afraid that the niggles I've mentioned are stopping me enjoying it much, but many casual buyers and some others will love it. I won't be buying the CD - my cheap Woollies download (which i had to get to review it) will suffice! Cheers, Dave

I bought this album randomly when I saw it on the shelf. It's not a very good CD at all. There is nothing that sets it apart from other Easy Listening albums out. There is one of them that can't even sing very well, at all! (I don't know which one). I had it on with my friend for about half hour until the pain got too much and we turned it off. I haven't turned it back on since. The tracklisting was a bore too. I don't know what made me buy it.
May seem harsh, but just my thoughts. Keep your money and just wait for All Angels.

Hi All,
I posted this thread at a time when I had not yet seen or heard either All Angels or Angelis.
I am now more and more convinced that All Angels are more than one cut above Angelis.
I also think that Angelis may prove to be a bad reflection on the superior quality of All Angels.
So what is Simon Cowell really up to with this mediocre group?
My apologies to anyone who has read my previous posts about All Angels in connection with Angelis. I heard All Angels at the Festival of Remembrance, and they are definitely more than a cut above Angelis.

Hi everyone! Angelis are okay... I may purchase a few songs purely as background music for homework, but it's not a group I'll be following. The arrangements on the clips at their site give most songs a kind of "futuristic" sound, for lack of better wording... not very appealing for me. Sorry... I actually wanted to like them since they had a promising tracklisting, and I'm a fan of young musicians in general, but I definitely prefer All Angels. Oksy

Hi everyone! I've come across someone with the album and they've kindly let me listen to it. There are only two songs I'd listen to over and over 'Cantero' and 'Even Though You're Gone.' I was watching a video of O Holy Night on youtube, and I think Natalie has a promising future. <3 Caite
