I could not find any previous entries regarding Izzy. A singer I have followed and admired since 2003. The reason for my entry today is that I have some news to share, that for me is very exciting and I hope that if there are any other fans out there they too will find it interesting. Izzy apperared to do a disappearing act in the summer of 2005 and it took me a year to track her down via an office in Javea, Spain where I noticed that the director of the company was booking Izzy for private functions and weddings etc. I sent Emails and she passed them on to Izzy who replied to me and advised that she now lived in Spain after suffering severe back problems, which at one time left her in a wheelchair. The warmer Spanish climate and her family in Spain were the reasons she moved. Over the last few weeks I have been in touch with Izzy by Email which has ended with us arranging to go over to Spain to see her in a concert (dinner dance Christmas special) on 17th December. Izzy has arranged to provide us with best seats for the evening. Izzy is recording a new album at this time for release early next year. She has a new web site www.izzysings.info Hope there are some fans out there or maybe I can persuade a few new ones to have a look at the web site. I will let you know how the trip and concert goes. One final thing - Izzy told us she will be getting married soon! Regards, George

Hi George, I believe Izzy has been mentioned in the past but admittedly I don't see her name within the title of a thread (other than one in which she receives only a brief mention). Izzy appeared at the Christmas Eve Service from Manchester Cathedral in (I think) December 2003 in which Hayley also featured. There is probably a report on the main site... somewhere! Soon after that, I bought Izzy's CD entitled 'New Dawn' although I regret it is some time since I have played it. Thanks for the reminder; I shall play it again soon! Roger

Hi Our visit to Spain to see Izzy was a fantastic experience! The Christmas Special show was at Salon El Canor, near Tuelada, out in the countryside about one hour north of Alicante. Denise at the El Canor restaurant - It was full later! We were just very early. There were around 300 people at the show which included a Cava reception at six, an excellent five course meal with all drinks and the highlight of the night a performance of over an hour of the wonderful Izzy. Izzy performed songs from her new album "Musicals" which was launched on the evening. Then a number of classical songs from her previous albums. Finally a selection of festive classics. Thanking everyone at the end - not singing from a card! After the show we met with Izzy and were completely bowled over by the welcome we received. We had only communicated by EMail before tonight but as we approached her to have all our albums signed she said "let me guess, Denise and George" and threw her arms around us! Izzy was so pleased that we had travelled so far to see her. Izzys mother was selling the CD's, Also on the front table was her grandmother who lives in the area. Izzy is to marry Neil in 2008. To complete the evening (now 2 a.m)! We spoke about Hayley as I know they had performed together in 2003. Izzy was very flattering about Hayley saying she is a lovely person and beautiful singer. Also she said they still keep in touch. I gave away my precious Odyssey (UK version) to Izzy for her to keep. Hope this has been of interest to some. It was a wonderful night for us. George and Denise

Hi George,
Many thanks for the superb photographs and the report from Spain. I have to admit, I hardly recognised Izzy even though I saw the service in which she appeared with Hayley and I have one of her CDs. She deserves to be heard more in the UK and I don't understand why it isn;t happening. Maybe 2007 will change that.

Hi
Thanks, Grant. The way I see it is that I can purchase another copy, which I almost certainly will. Izzy has many friends and contacts and I would think it is likely that it could promote Hayley further in some small way!
Roger, Izzy had to give up her contract because she was too ill to continue performing. I think her back problems were far worse than anyone realised. She is much better now but is still on medication. Going back as far as 2003, Izzy told us it was really difficult to complete her shows. Next year she is going to be performing on some of the large cruise ships around the Caribbean/South America. I agree she should be so much more well known but it was clear from our conversation that she is very happy with her life in Spain. Izzy runs a "Rock school" for the local children each Saturday. In fact the couple we sat with were there because their two children go to the school.
Best wishes,
George

Hi George and Denise,
Great to hear about your evening with Izzy, and a superb set of photographs to remember the day with. I hope Hayley and Izzy sing together again in the future.
All that is left now is to wish the two of you a very happy Christmas and I look forward to meeting up with you both again in the 2007.
God Bless
Steve H

Hi, I have one video of Izy, from a 2003 Songs of Praise broadcast, in which she performs "Be Still My Soul" (to the tune of Sibelius' Finlandia). www.classicalrelatedperformances.com/misc/BeStillMySoul.wmvIt was Claire Halligan who actually introduced me to Izzy's singing. She is a big fan of Izzy. I have three of Izzy's CDs, New Dawn, Ascolta and Libera Me. I believe that together they sold some 250,000 copies in the UK - which means she would not have achieved Platinum, but there sure will be some Gold awards! Gerrit Gerrit

One final thing - Izzy told us she will be getting married soon! Regards, George We have several of Izzy's albums. She is arguably one of the big contributors to classical/crossover. Her sales were massive. She is a very smooth, polished singer with an incredibly flexible voice. She uses voice rather than instruments as backdrop on many tracks. I have in the past had the occasional e-mail reply from Izzy. In the last she mentioned her attachment to Spain. A very nice personality comes through. We find her voice and productions something we can play over and over and never tire of them. I think she had a car crash and messed up her back - that really took her offline and stalled her career. I hope she can make a comeback in the UK - she really is one of the best ones out there in that genre. Lawrence

I have three of her albums. I don't put her on often, but I'll give her the honour by naming her to be the soprano that has given the classica 'Un Bel Di Vedremo' the most beautiful rendition out of anyone that I've heard. If you haven't heard her version, you must! And I love her music video I saw on Classic FM. The title of the song is a metre from me, but I can't reach it to check it as I have a dog on my lap! 'Fugimra something' or rather. Something along those lines!

It was a West Highland White Terrier. I'm dogsitting him for two weeks. The time is up tomorrow! He goes back home! Thank god! Now, I love dogs, but this dog is just high maintenence that makes noise constantly. Oh, and since I can now reach over, the song is called 'Una Furtiva Lagrima'

As I have now gone totally off topic (self-censored out) I'm moving on to a new thread, unless a quick glance advises me there is an appropriate thread already existing, on 'Favourite animals', as another fun thread while we wait for Hayley to make more news splashes. Hi Izzy has a new updated web site ... www.izzysings.comA new classical album is being worked on this year and Izzy continues to travel with a number of cruise liners. I don't think Izzy will mind us sharing the news that we had an amazing surprise when we received an Email asking for our address. We were then sent a parcel from Spain. Inside was the white coat that is featured in the video "My love is like a red red rose". We feel so honoured to have been sent this coat. It doesn't suit me! and is too big for Denise but it is something we will treasure forever! George
