Just a few weeks ago, we saw Alison performing at the Classical Brits where she was also presented with an award for Young british Classical performer of the Year.
Alison Balsom
Alison will be appearing at the Barbican Hall in London next month during theannual "Mostly Mozart" season......
Mozart and Haydn
Academy of St Martin in the Fields
8 July 2006 / 19:30
Barbican Hall
Part of Mostly Mozart 2006
Tickets: £8 £14 £19 £24 £29
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Haydn Symphony No 49 ‘La Passione’
Haydn Trumpet Concerto
Mozart Sinfonia Concertante for 4 winds
Mozart Symphony No 35 ‘Haffner’
Academy of St Martin in the Fields
Carlo Rizzi conductor
Alison Balsom trumpet
Galliard Ensemble
‘Little daunted, the young soloist Alison Balsom, blazing in red, surmounted the score's explosions, with the ease of someone just making coffee.’ The Times
Mozart wanted the finale of his exuberant ‘Haffner’ Symphony played ‘as fast as possible’ and, with his rare instinct, Carlo Rizzi will surely provide ‘the splendid effect’ the composer hoped for. From Haydn, Mozart’s friend and inspiration, there’s the darkhued ‘Passione’ symphony and the sparklingly vivacious Trumpet Concerto, played here by Britain’s most exciting young trumpeter, Alison Balsom.
