Haha, I had no idea this was going to end up here! But, if Hayley can post to her official forum, I don't see why I shouldn't post to my own thread! Yep, I wrote The Journeyman (and a number of others) during part of my mis-spent youth. The songs were only ever recoded on a twin-deck cassette player and multi-tracked by little more than guesswork to get the vocal and instrumental balance about right - hence the rather tinny sound. I don't recall how the conversation began but I mentioned my songs to Tashi a few weeks ago and ended up sending her a tape. She asked if she could include it on her own forum (which I considered an honour) but it came as a shock to see it here. Sorry Hayley! Anyway, so you can all sing along , because I know you're bursting to, here are the lyrics. It's in the key of W... The Journeyman
Well the Journeyman is hungry and dressed in hand-me-downs, For the road was long and hard for him; a stranger in the town. But does anybody notice him, does anybody care? Does anybody stop to wonder what he’s doing there?
So you think his life is easy; that he never is perplexed? You think he’s happy wandering from one place to the next? But have you stopped to question why he’s never settled down? It’s just because he’s nothing but a stranger in the town.
And you never stop complaining of the life you call your own. How often have you criticized the things you’ve never known? But all that is home to the poor Journeyman, Is just an empty, tumbledown old gypsy caravan.
Now the Journeyman has contentment on his face, For his time has come to travel on to some other place. And if he was a stranger, he was only passing through, And now I realise it was the only life he knew.
It was destiny that brought him here and fate will move him on, Then who will stop to wonder where our Journeyman has gone? And would he recognise me if we should meet again? Because the Journeyman would be no stranger to me then, For the Journeyman would be no stranger to me then. I'm still waiting for it to be certified gold. In fact I'd settle for plastic! Thank you Tashi, you're lovely. And thank you to everyone who has endured this electrifying world premiere! Roger

Hehe, I really liked this one - in fact - for some reason or other, it really reminded me of some of the bush songs I heard Down Under during my stay there (Australia - 1980 - 1996)! That voice quality really would fit in well there - in fact, the reminiscences back to my stay there were uncanny . Well done, Gerrit

Hi Tashi, I would like to suggest we consider working on a Roger Mansbridge International web site, Gerrit can look after the media, I am sure we could rustle up some admins and moderators I have just checked and the url: www.roger-mansbridge-international.com is still available, shall I reserve it? Hugs Steve H

Thanks guys! Actually Steve, it wouldn't take long to build the site for it's content would be minimal. Seriously though, I can tell you that I will be appearing at the Royal Albert Hall on 15th April. Yes, admittedly it's only in the audience but it's a start! I notice the stats counter at the foot of the Index page has fallen over. It currently reads 00000000. It was probably the shock! Dave, which chart would it qualify for? Thanks everyone! Roger

Both are good songs. Raymond

Actually Steve, Roger is under my exclusive management (I did introduce him internationally didn’t I?? Haha) and I’d suggest buying that domain while you still have a chance! Seriously I’m so happy to see the amount of interest this clip has generated! No one deserves it more than Roger! Hugs, Tashi

Hello Tashi! Thanks for posting the clip. I would love to see you and Crystal joining Roger for a song one day, so when you come to London we'll have to see if we can arrange something! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Hi Roger. Tashi and everybody else! I first saw these lyrics over at the writers and artists forum and loved them, and now, having heard Roger's song, I love them even more! What a great clip! I will say it again: Roger, you should consider sending your songs to Hayley. I'd love to hear her sing them, as much as I loved hearing you sing them! Oksana
