In case anyone missed it, Gerrit recently posted a thread about an Anna Netrebko Opera Gala broadcast on German TV recently. He has also made the Gala highlights available to download so if you are interested in reading about this and/or getting the downloads, the thread is here: Anna Netrebko Opera GalaAnna Netrebko at the Last Night of the PromsAnna Netrebko made a surprise (for me) and spectacular appearance at The Last Night of The Proms from The Royal Albert Hall yesterday singing: My Lips Kiss With Such Fire (in German, subtitled) and another performance with the virtuoso violinist Joshua Bell. I think it's safe to say that in all my 50 years of watching Last night of The Proms, I have never seen such a riveting and spectacular operatic, song and dance performance by any soloist... ever. This was of course a live performance, she used the full width of the stage to perform sing and dance, weaved in and out of the orchestra, threw roses liberally to members of the audience and at times continued to sing while she was literally running across the stage. She was on fire, had the audience eating out of her hands and from her reaction afterwards you can see that she absolutely knew that she'd nailed it! This was not just an aria or song but a complete performance and In a word, I would just say something I usually reserve for Hayley at her best: wow! and if anyone is interested, I can upload the video tonight... oh what the heck, I'll upload it anyway! Cheers, Dave

Cheers, Dave Hi Dave, the Last Night was broadcast by a German channel, too - unfortunately only the last part. So I can second you in any aspect - the performance was outstanding and so it's a very good idea to upload the video. The (German) lyrics of "My lips Kiss With Such Fire" can e. g. be found here: www.planet-vienna.com/Musik/Operette/Texte/meinelippen.htmThe song is from Franz Lehárs operetta "Giuditta". Here's a videocap from Anna Netrebko: There's only one possible climax - an appearance of Hayley on stage in the Last night... All the best, Karsten

In due time, I will add Anna's performance to my Anna Netrebko download page. I have recorded every song she performed as well!
Gerrit
PS Dave, did you miss Anna's performance before the interval?

PS Dave, did you miss Anna's performance before the interval? Hi Gerrit, Yes... well no... well OK, yes! What I did was to record it but it's been such a busy weekend (my twin daughters' birthday(s) today!) that I haven't yet got round to watching it. But I shall... soon enough! Cheers, Dave

Many thanks Gerrit for posting the link to Anna Netrebko's performances at last year's Last Night of the Proms, my apologies for not mentioning this before... another of my "senior moments" I fear! I think this is a good time to congratulate Anna for winning her second award in successive years at the Classical Brits recently, so well done to her! From www.classicalbrits.co.uk/news/163/Sadly, Anna sang only the one duet (with Andrea Bocelli) at the Classical Brits - but at least she was there this year, to sing and collect her prize (complete with babydoll dress ). If they show it on ITV tonight, I will upload it to view after I've completed Hayley's duet with Jonathan Ansell. Anna did not sing her scheduled solo aria but we are lucky she performed at all - she had cancelled many planned performances this year as she is currently about 5 months pregnantNow back to the Last Night of the Proms! Gerrit you may remember that i asked if you still had your higher quality versions of the videos available (as my originals were partially corrupted) but you thought not. So I searched round the Internet and found a Torrent of the Last Night still going - it took me 4 days (4 GB) but I finally got it! Many thanks to the anonymous uploader. Here is what I have extracted from it so far: Anna Netrebko - Meine Lippen Sie Kussen So Heiss (My Lips Kiss With Such Fire) from Giuditta by Franz Lehár. The following are big files so I've included short clips in each case, so you can decide if you will like them and make sure they will play OK. These are slightly longer versions which show a bit more of the fun at the start and end: My Lips Kiss with Such Fire - Windows Media 500 kbps - 1 minute - 3 MB clipMy Lips Kiss with Such Fire - Windows Media 500 kbps - 7 minutes, 25 MBMy Lips Kiss with Such Fire - Avi XVID 1.5Mbps - 1 minute - 10 MB clip High Quality (Windows Media Player may squash it)My Lips Kiss with Such Fire - Avi XVID 1.5 Mbps - 7 minutes, 73 MB High Quality (Windows Media Player may squash it)In all cases the aspect ratio is widescreen 16:9 so if your usual player (e.g. Windows Media Player for the XVID ones) squashes it, use a better one such as the free VLC Media Player or Power DVD If in doubt, try the clips first. Nothing like this has been seen at the Last Night before, Anna and the audience were having a ball, she's a real performer - not just a singer. If the bigger downloads won't complete, try again before 1500 GMT, after midnight GMT or use a Download Manager such as Getright - even Firefox is better than IE and may well complete (why is so much Microsoft stuff rubbish?) .Dave

Hi Dave, Looking forward to the uploads of the ITV Classical Brits. Your experiences with Torrent downloads match mine - you'll eventually get them, but, unless you have your own material available to download by other Torrent users, downloading anything substantial is painfully slow. I got my fingers burnt once by downloading an Oslo Nobel Peace Prize concert download, which, according to the description, featured Katherine Jenkins. But once the download was complete, it turned out to be a file of just 10 minutes featuring one band (Katherine was just mentioned as one of the attention grabbers). It simply took ages to download, and I was horrified that the resulting clip was so short and never even showed a glimpse of Katherine. Since that moment, I have resolved never to use BitTorrent streams again unless absolutely necessary. By the way, a lot of Torrent streams feature illegal rips of commercially released albums . That's another reason why I don't bother any more with them! Gerrit

I've fallen in love with Anna Netrebko. She sings Puccini (my fav) and Verdi like no one else. And to top it off she is breathtakingly beautiful.

Not quite sure who guided me to Song to the moon by Rusalka, I thought it was morwen9
The intro is a bit long so I found myself losing interest, but lately, I just love it, funny how it can take years for something to sink in
