I decided to start a genre thread for my favourite: jazz. Anyone here like it? Who are your favourite artists? What's your favourite style?

Hello Someone! I don't like modern jazz, because it lacks melody, but I do enjoy big band and vocal swing jazz from the 1940s. I have a very wide taste in music, and I tend to like anything with a good tune. I quite enjoyed Hayley's performance of "Chattanooga Choo Choo" in the VE Day Concert at Trafalgar Square, but the girl she duetted with ruined it! Best Wishes from London, Richard

I have never learned to appreciate jazz. I can't say I like it but I don't exactly dislike it either. If I can see it being performed live, I am much more likely to enjoy it, no matter who it is. If it is merely a recording, it becomes little more than background music to me. That is a pity because I think there are some amazing jazz musicians out there. I just haven't "tuned in" to them yet!

sorry...i don't normally dig up old threads but jazz is brilliant, i just had to. a jazz band comprising of a few good friends of mine have been going for a couple of years, www.sirrealjazz.co.uk/ , ok they're only amateur, but for a few teenagers, they're pretty awesome having played at the nec in birmingham and various local jazz festivals. if anyone is willing to give up a few minutes...please go to the sample page and view the clip of spain, any comments will be appreciated.
