Hey Someone, My favourite album is 'Fly', but it is hardly classical and judging by the albums you do own that isn't what I recommend. I recommend 'Timeless' or 'Time To Say Goodbye' (as it is known in America). That album has the most beautiful song on it I have ever heard called 'No One Like You'. I haven't heard anyone else that has done it but this song moves me. It also has a classical rendition of Queens 'Who Wants To Live Forever' and some lovely duets with Andrea Bocelli, Jose Curas and the other I can't spell (lol). 'There For Me' is one of those such duets and it's a lovely song. It's actually just a lovely CD. If you do go for a Sarah CD let it be that one By the way, you are very mature for a 13 year old. I honestly thought you were much older.

Well, thank you! I said my age on the Welcome board. I'll look for "Time to Say Goodbye." I've heard many people call it Sarah's best CD. I heard the Bocelli duet on the radio, and thought it was amazing. Quite different from the exhiliarating power and strength in Katherine's but very magical in its own way. ~Someone

I agree with Nicola, "There For Me" is definitely a lovely duet. Their voice compliments each other perfectly. Personally, I would rank "Time of Say Goodbye", "La Luna" and "Harem" to be the top 3 sarah albums of all time. Nicola, do you have Sarah's Live in Las Vegas dvd? I always wonder if it's worth getting, the clips I've seen on TV are less than impressive... I really like the La Luna dvd, just bought a second copy for my little cousin's birthday in fact Allen

I think it's worth getting. Sarah's voice has improved in that tour. And she presents one of her original songs, and plays the piano.

Well, I'm quite bias with that tour DVD since I actually went to it, so as a concert DVD I couldn't really tell you since when I watch it I only think 'Ohh I remember that'. It was a fantastic night and its definitely one of Sarahs most experimental tours. The highlight was of her floating with 3 shadow backdrops which made her take on a shape of an angel and when she is on the swing. The actual swinging doesn't last long though. It's a very colourful and lively concert (Sarah has a group of dancers as well and her sister makes an appearence, her stage name is 'Violet'). I still prefer to watch 'One Night in Eden' though over any other concert dvd. I'm also in agreement with Portia on her voice. She sings amazing live. Though the piano playing is nothing much... she doesn't actually play the full song if you know what I mean, a few keys here and there to complement the song. Guess what I am trying to say is that the piano isn't the main instrument of that piece It doesn't show her playing much at all, about 3 shots of her hands on the keys. I own absolutely everything of Sarahs, so any queries, just ask.

I like La Luna the best, simply because I love the La Luna songs. Hijo de La Luna, Whiter Shade of Pale.
Though sarah's concerts never really disappoint - fabulous costumes.

I like La Luna, but it's not one I choose to put on. It's not the worst one, Sarah in the RAH is pretty... bland. I like her singing in it, as we hear songs sung from her that we haven't got on her CDs, but it WAS just bland and her hair was all wrong

Sarah (or ALW) has released a new ALW compliation... again. That's like the sixth one now. I'm still getting it. It has 5 new recordings on it.
Sarahs ALW compilations:
The Songs That Got Away (1989) Sarah Brightman sings the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber (1992) Surrender: The Unexpected Songs (1995) The ALW collection (1997) Encore (2000) Love Changes Everything (2005)
Anyone think this is a bit excessive? *raises hand*

Hi portia and nicola, I finally managed to get my hands on Sarah's Las Vegas dvd! "Accidentally" ran into a local HMV yesterday and they happened to have the DVD on promotion. Watched both DVDs at least 3 times since last night I agree with portia, Sarah's voice got a lot better since La Luna. Just wish the "Phantom of the opera suite" was a bit longer Nicola, I didn't know Violet is Sarah's sister!!! So that's the reason why her voice kept getting my attention. Very lovely dress she has as well, almost rivaling Sarah's. Now I wish I was able to goto the concert 2 years ago when she came to Vancouver... will have to wait for the next album and the world tour. BTW, HMV Canada has the "Live From Las Vegas" on sale for "2 for $30" but the availability seems to be very low and varies among different locations. It says $32.99 on the sticker. Allen

Violet has her own album, but the Nemo team (Frank Peterson, etc) have not been able to get her a record deal. Her album has been finished for about three years. Nemo Studios have announced they will be releasing her album independantly early this year, and I'm really looking forward to that because Violet has a stunning voice. You can hear her on all of the Gregorian albums (apart from the first one I think). My favourite of hers is a song from Gregorian Masters of Chant: Chapter IV called 'The Gift'. In other news, Sarah is releasing her new album this autumn and it is said to have a 'gothic' influence.

In other news, Sarah is releasing her new album this autumn and it is said to have a 'gothic' influence. ... 14 months later... Well that must be Symphony which was released in the US in February 2008 and entered the Billboard 200 at no. 13 (no. 1 in the Classical Crossover chart). The reason I am writing today is that Symphony is released this week in the UK and is currently predicted (by midweek sales charts) to enter the main album chart on Sunday also at... no. 13 (we shall see). I do not yet know if it will count as Classical for the UK charts. Why do I think the "gothic influenced album" is Symphony? Well the clue is in the album cover (and track 1 is "Gothica"!): I'm scared to show the larger version so if you want to see it you'll have to click on the small photo above. I have heard the samples at HMV but I won't be buying this one. The album cover alone was enough to put me off but as it's been a US Classical Crossover no. 1 and might do the same in the UK classical charts (i.e. if it qualifies), I thought it should be mentioned. Hi Dave, Thank you for your interesting comments. I saw Sarah's new CD at HMV this morning and hesitated to buy it. I'm going to listen to the samples first but it seems to be very different to what she has previously done. Cheers - Stephany

Hello Stephany and Dave! I've heard that Sarah Brightman will be escorted by Count Dracula at the Classical Brit Awards. Hayley, don't drink the red wine! Richard

Hello Stephany, Richard and everyone! Symphony did indeed enter the chart at no. 13 as anticipated - the same as it entered the US chart a cou[ple of months ago. It does not qualify for the UK classical chart so Mike Oldfield (+ Hayley!) remains at no. 1 for the 5th week. There is an interesting report about this in this week's Music Week, from which it can be seen over the last decade, Hayley's albums in the UK have all been more successful than Sarah's albums. But of course, that's just the UK and Sarah has been around for a very long time now and has racked up a phenomenal number of album sales Worldwide especially in the US. Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave! The pre-listening of Sarah's album doesn't really convince me. Her voice sounds a bit too thin for those gothic-sounding songs on her album. The title "Symphony" is actually a coverversion from a very good German song "Symphonie" by the pop-rock group "Silbermond" (Silvermoon engl.) You can listen to it HERE if you're interested. Thomas
