Any thoughts about the crossover queen?
I have 3 of her CDs, but my favourite is Eden. It mixes classical and pop very magically. Highly recommended.

I am also a fan of Sarah Brightman. Not a fan of her as a person, but her voice is extraordinary. I love how she can change her voice to fit a song. I have the albums Time to Say Goodbye, Eden, and The Songs that Got Away. I also have a cassette of Phantom of the Opera with her as Christine Daae. Sarah definitely makes the best Christine I have ever heard.

I... have all of them... I have over 20 cds of hers. 40 if you include singles, compilations, lps, and featuring. I worship the ground she works on. Person, voice and talent. Fair enough, I don't know her personally, but her music and talent is so extroadinary to me I think I would forgive her if she were a horrible person (I doubt she is). Her best album with the widest range of music genres is 'Fly'. Her best classical album would have to be 'Timeless'/'Time To Say Goodbye' (the album has two titles for whatever reason). She is my favourite artist of all time and she will be in my CD player until my dying day. I *love* Sarah Brightman. No other artist will ever come close

I heard clips of Sarah singing songs from "Phantom of the Opera" and she sounded very good on them. When she sang "Pie Jesu" however, she really killed it. I just bought "Sarah Brightman - In Concert" for my sister, and so I will be able to hear more of Sarah. Natasha

Oh no! Sarah originated Pie Jesu by the way. Oh no... was about which concert you bought. Well id depends what you prefer. If you like classical you may like it... but her better dvds are Eden, La Luna or Harem. Eden is my favourite. Sarah Brightman in concert she just literally stands there and sings... thats it. Eden, Harem... she gets up in the air, on swings, bridges... everything. Sarah Brightman in concert is my least favourite. I think it was her more classical era. I don't like the way she looks in that one either lol.

After watching the video, I think Sarah has a very lovely voice and smile. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif She also puts lots of expression into her songs. Sadly however, they are mostly overshadowed by her habit of tilting her head to one side or the other, which makes it seem that it is almost difficult for her to produce the sound. I was surprised to see how much Sarah resembled Charlotte Church and to realize that much of Charlotte's "uniqueness" was actually originated by Sarah and then copied by Charlotte. Stranger still is the fact that Charlotte and Sarah actually do resemble each other physically and facially. They also have little quirks in their singing, Sarah the head titling and Charlotte the jaw wobbling. I can't say I'm a fan of Sarah's but I defiantly would listen to her music. She has a beautiful voice but yet, she doesn't sing with the same grace and ease as does our Hayley, who always looks completely natural when she sings.

Glad you liked it. But Sarah looks very different now to how she looked back in 1997. I have a Concert in Vienna on DVD where both Charlotte and Sarah are performing. I believe it was the 98' concert. Charlotte had an awful habit of jarring (is that what it is called? Moving the jaw up and down whilst singing a note). Sarah looked immensely pretty at that concert. I urge you try Eden. Classical crossover. Some classical some a little more mild. It's my favourite show

Glad you liked it! If Hayley should be compared to someone, it should be Sarah, and not Charlotte. They have a similar way of singing crossover. Only Hayley's better. In my opinion, anyway. I would also recommend that you try Eden; it's got quite a few classical peices like "Lascia Ch'io Pianga" and, "Nessun Dorma" and "Bailero."

Hi, I'm a Sarah Brightman fan also. My favourite CD is "Harem". I saw her 2 times live in a concert in Berlin and was very enthusiastoc about her voice and her performance on stage.

Classicgrace, that wasn't the concert I was talking about. IT may not have been in Vienna but it was in Rome and everyone was performing for the Pope etc. It even had Bryan Adams and Jewel etc. Both Charlotte and Sarah were there. Sarah sang 'Nella Fantasia' and 'O Holy Night'. I don't remember what Charlotte sang.
Someone - where are Hayleys and Sarahs similarities? I'm baffled by your comment. I don't think anyone can beat Sarah really because she can sing anything. Hayley always has the same sound. I enjoy the diversity of Sarah Brightman. And since I have 20 albums of hers I know at what diversity that ranges! lol.

Hi everyone, I'm fairly neutral about Sarah, I do like some of her songs but in general, I've found them to be over-elaborate both sonically and visually. I very much prefer the relative simplicity of Hayley's productions and performances. Perhaps I am too suspicious, suspicious that heavy production is sometimes done to hide deficiencies in a singer's voice or technique - although I know it isn't necessarily so. So yes, Sarah is OK but I haven't yet felt the desire to purchase any of her albums. Perhaps I remember too well her roots... as a dancer in "Pan's People" and dancer/singer in "Hot Gossip" on "Top of the Pops" many years ago. Those memories may cloud my musical judgement a little! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

I'm sorry but Sarah leaves me cold. She always did and I suspect she always will. She's okay but nothing special at all.

Fair enough Roger Dave: I remember that awfu video (though not from the time, I am too young) but I have seen it. Its regulary played on VH1 in the top 100 worst videos of all time. Its a shame that is all Sarah is remembered for in England at a mass range. I wouldn't know which album of Sarahs to recommend really. They are all so different in musical genres and I don't know your tastes. Eden: if you like pop and classical. Timeless: if you like classical Fly: if you like you pop mixed in with everything else. Has every one heard A Question of Honour? One of the best classical crossover pieces in my opinion

I enjoy the diversity of Sarah Brightman. And since I have 20 albums of hers I know at what diversity that ranges! lol. Style is the main reason for my comment. It baffles me when someone compares Hayley to Charlotte Church because they sing completely different songs -- Hayley's never done opera; and in her first five albums, Charlotte did too little pop to judge by. (I'm sorry to bring up the CC comparison again; I'm just saying why it's unfair). On the other hand, Hayley and Sarah do a lot of similar material. They're both versatile, and they sound natural in whatever style they sing. And they both have an amazing vocal range. I've heard both Hayley and Sarah sing pop, classical, crossover and musical theatre; so that makes it fair to compare the two. I enjoy Sarah's material much more than Hayley's but I stand by my first comment about liking Hayley's voice more. Any questions?
