In Our Local Press there was an article saying Opera heavyweight Luciano Pavarotti will be in New Zealand and do a one off show in Auckland on November 12th this year, as part of his farewell tour,Pavarotti will turn 70 in October. The article says ,he does not come cheap to buy a platinum ticket it will cost $800 cheapest tickets being $125,The tenor will be accompanied by conductor Leone Magiera,guest Soprano Simona Todaro and a 66 piece orchestra.He will perform some of the works that made him a household name including arias and duets from la Boheme and Tosca.
Pavarotti,whose last NZ concert was in 1999,will perform at North Harbour Stadium,He will also perform 4 concerts in Australia.
I remember my daughter kim at 9 years old,(Kim used to do a lot of singing and acting in Christchurch, )saying after seeing Pavarotti on Tv .
I want to sing with the fat man out of the (mouths of babes.)I said who and she pointed to Pavarotti,
