I have the US one of the cd . I do not have the UK one but I am familer with the songs that are on the UK one and not the US one ,and I feel that reson why the tracklist are different is not why Hayley cd was. oydney the international one I feel is more pop than this cd there is only one so you can say is pop . the different with the Uk one to the US one is that the US one does not have What Child Is This ( I know people say that this song is classical but is it . It is just a update of gynleaves withch is the classical one of the songs .) , The Sleeping Princess I am getting the in preesstion with this song just by the sound clip is so updated it some and she did it in english but there are alot of others that do it in english and I think alot of times what this song comes from it is mostly done in english ., than there is Salley Gardens which is a tran. song, and last there is Ave Verum Corpus which yes this is a classical song. the US one has Adagio which is a great song and yes you can say that it is kind of classical as it is a classical song that had words put to it and not it is not the same one as lara fabin and amcmi forever it is the same song but not words, and than you have Bereden Väg för Herran which I do not know why they are not on the Uk one these songs more than make up for the US one not having four songs that are on the Uk one as I think they are some of the best songs on the cd they are great. I like it how the US cd had one more norwerian song than the UK one because the norwerian songs on this cd are great . i do not see why this cd would not be put on the Uk classical chart it is not any bit classical than hayley.
In Paradisum (classical) this is a great song very moving but most of the songs are this cd are moving and what is it with all of the sad songs but I love tham. Sancta Maria (classical) I have always loves this song and she did it very good here vocie is so good in this song. Bachianas Brasileiras (classical) very nice like it how she did it with the words not eazy to do and nice touch I have always liked the one that people did with the words and yes this song does have one with words . Dido's Lament (classical) does this sogn kind of like Hayley very nice. Wachet Auf, Ruft Uns die Stimme (classical) very nice buch song that I wish more of the classical and crossover singers would do I think it is better than ave maira , and some of his other songs. and sissel did this song very good it is so nice to linten to. Dusk (don't know) this song I think is on it own it is a standout are this cd but it is kind of sad and the US cd begains with this song and with how this song is it gives you a idea how the cd is going to be. i just love this song. Ingen Vinner Frem (norwengin folklord) this is what i would call a true folk song and it is great I am getting into this norwenign stuff I love it is kind of like the russican folk songs. What Child Is This (chrimas song tran) not on the US cd. Marble Halls (classical ) nice The Sleeping Princess (classical) not on the US cd Vitae Lux (clasical I think it is ) this is one of my fav on the cd it is very nice. Salley Gardens (tarn) not on the US cd. Ave Verum Corpus(classical) not on the us cd. Like An Angel Passing Through (pop) nice song the US song tlak about tham later.
on this cd she has 8 or 9 songs you can say are classical than some songs that can pass and the cd has 14 songs on it .

I do not think they made it any more classical then the US one it is that I think they tryed to combine two diffent albums for the US one into paradise and Nordisk Vinternatt even though there is only one song on the cd that is from Nordisk Vinternatt .
here is the US tracklist
1. Dusk (Velkomne Med Aera) 2. Bachianas Brasileiras 3. Wachet Auf, Ruft Uns Die Stimme (Sleepers Awake) 4. Dido's Lament 5. In Paradisum (Into Paradise) 6. Sancta Maria 7. Vitae Lux 8. Ingen Vinner Frem 9. Bereden Väg för Herran* 10. Marble Halls 11. Adagio 12. Like An Angel Passing Through My Room

Hi Kimberly and Steph, thanks for the review and comments! I agree that it's as classical as Hayley's albums tend to be - so it *should* qualify for the UK classical chart. The reason I'm not yet sure is that I haven't heard the UK version! When listening to the US sample tracks, I thought I could hear an added slight 'pop' beat on a couple of the otherwise classical/traditional tracks and if that is so, they would be counted as pop tracks. Of course, it would be easy to do a "classical" type of arrangement of the same songs (if necessary) therefore, I think it will get into the UK classical charts and I want it to be number 1 there! I've just checked Billboard and i see that Sissel's last Album "My Heart" reached no. 3 in the Classical Crossover chart the week before Hayley's "Pure" was released. It was in and out of the chart for 27 weeks until May 2005. If you have this album, how does her new one compare to it? Into Paradise entered the Crossover chart at no. 12 last week and today, it's at no. 15. I guess it's tough in the US for foreign singers. Her only other album to enter the charts (apart from Titanic!) was "Sissel" and that had two weeks in the Heatseekers chart at 35 and 47 back in 2002 but did not qualify for (or enter) the crossover chart. Hard to believe that she's been a recording star in Scandinavia for 20 years! Cheers, Dave

I have the US cd and I can say that none of the classical songs have a pop beat and if they did they would still be classical , but if it is all popize it can be pop. i think it is wufair to go by sound clips and storry but Hayley with classical songs does not do tham in a very very very classical why and some of her stuff has some beat to it.

I'm only trying to work out if it will be in the UK classical charts according to the chart rules, I'm not saying if I think one is better than the other! By "pop beat" I meant a beat added by any non-classical or electronic instrument (as defined in the charts people's rules). If a track includes an instrument or electronic effect that isn't a "recognised classical instrument" - that track will not count as a classical track for chart purposes. Not even if it sounds classical (or classically arranged traditional). For example, the Irish pipes on Hayley's "She Moves Through The Fair" aren't counted as a "recognised classical instrument" therefore, the pipes had to be left out of the UK version of Odyssey to help get it into the classical charts. I'm not saying I agree with it, but that's (one of) the rules! If there are no "pop" or electronic instruments on Sissel's album tracks, that's great because it means it will probably get into the UK classical charts - as I think it should do. By the way, I agree with you about leaving bits of songs out, I don't like that. It was a pleasure to hear Sissel include the middle section with words, in Bachianas (I heard it on Friday Night is Music Night) and I think Hayley should have done the same. I also think Hayley should have included the first part of Dido's Lament - "Thy Hand, Belinda". It kind of spoils it for me when singers (well Record Companies) do that. Does Sissel include "Thy Hand Belinda" at the start of her version? I'm getting annoyed now, I still haven't found Sissel's new album in any of my local shops! May have to wait until next Monday. Dave

that one is the same one as the Uk one. I may get that one That I do not think I would like it as mush as the one I have As it does not have Bereden Väg för Herran or Adagio which I think are great songs.

I've just learned that "Into Paradise" did qualify for the UK Classical charts and has entered tomorrow's Classic FM chart at no. 9. It should have entered the Classical Artist Chart on Sunday at no. 5 but seems to have been left out initially due to a genre classification code error (this has happened to Hayley in the past). Estimated sales for last week are 400 and it needs to probably double its sales to get to no. 1 (Katherine). That will occur if any of the major supermarkets decide to stock it, as Tesco have said they will, or if there's some TV advertising. We shall see. I'm still waiting for one of my local shops to wake up and get it in stock! Dave

FABULOUS NEWS FOR SISSEL FANS... !!!!
Although the following information has not yet been "officially" publicised in the media news, I stumbled upon these little tidbits of information by scouring the Internet (thanks to GOOGLE) for various website articles alluding to SIssel's latest CD and an Autumn 2006 concert tour of the USA which may result from its release!
It now appears that a very small number of PBS television stations around the United States are currently promoting "Thank You" gifts related to upcoming Sissel concert tickets, in recognition for donations made to that station during their current March 2006 fund-raising membership campaign. Those stations involved have recently broadcast a concert video of "Into Paradise" which Sissel taped at the end of 2005, in Sweden.
At least four specific PBS television stations have, on their individual websites, announced "Thank You" gifts of 2 TICKETS to a live concert to be given by Sissel in a venue local to their viewing area, during the month of October, 2006. (They are urging would-be members to donate now, before these tickets go on sale to the general public.) Well... THIS IS HOW I KNOW THAT THESE TICKETS EVENTUALLY WILL BECOME AVAILABLE FOR SALE, TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC (and shall undoubtedly cost far **less** than the $200 which PBS want as a donation)!
You understand... we have all seen this done before, for example... by WLVT-TV in Easton, Pennsylvania (prior to the special concert which our Hayley gave there, last October). Anyway... based upon information recently gleaned from WLIW (in NYC), from WLVT (in Allentown/Bethlehem), from KETC (in St. Louis, Missouri) and from WTTW (in Chicago, Illinois)...
HERE ARE (at the very least) A LISTING OF FOUR "KNOWN" LIVE CONCERT APPEARANCES BY SISSEL, WHICH ARE CURRENTLY SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE in OCTOBER, 2006:
Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 8 PM: The Town Hall, 123 West 43rd Street, New York, NY.
Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 8 PM: The Academy of Music, Broad & Locust Sts., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (this is the performance currently being promoted by WLVT-TV, in Allentown)
Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 7:30 PM: Touhill Performing Arts Center, St. Louis, Missouri
Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 7:30 PM: Park West Theatre, 322 W. Armitage, Chicago, Illinois.
I trust that there shall be other cities and other dates, as the momentum grows!

Hi everyone,
Thanks almost entirely to the favourable comments in this thread, I was encouraged to order 'Into Paradise' on Tuesday. It arrived this morning - less than 48 hours later!
Now I understand and share your enthusiasm. It is a remarkabl album and one which I know will be played often.
Playing it for the third time already, a track that really stands out is 'Wachet Auf, Ruft Uns Die Stimme'. Fabulous!
Roger
