One one hand I think it's very admirable of Meav to make the choice she did. And I wish her the best of luck and am looking forward to hearing Lauren with the group. But there's a part of me that thinks it sucks.

Hi Mkc,

I'm also very saddened by the news because I dearly hoped I would see Méav touring with Celtic Woman in Europe one day.
Having said that, I'm very pleased to hear that she will focus on her solo career. I will definitely go to one of her concerts.
This is not really a Good-Bye in my opinion!

Dear Friends,

After long consideration I have decided to take a full-time break from touring with Celtic Woman to focus on my solo career. I understand the disappointment this may cause my fans and I promise to see you again soon in my own live show.

Touring with Celtic Woman has been a wonderful journey and the warmth and appreciation shown by our millions of fans is overwhelming. Working with such a talented group of singers, musicians and production staff has been an unforgettable honour and I know they will go from strength to strength. I want to thank them all sincerely and also to thank EMI, Celtic Woman and David Downes for giving me this opportunity and for accepting my decision with such generosity. I am delighted to hand over my Celtic Woman touring baton to Lynn Hillary who is a beautiful singer and a great performer.

You will see me at Christmas in the Celtic Woman special to be broadcast on PBS and around the world. You will also hear me next year when I release my new solo album which is a dream I need to follow. I hope you will follow the dream with me.

Thanks for all your posts and concerns.

I can't believe how well you have all responded to the news about Meav. You have been so supportive and practical and I thank you for that.

Obviously it was a shock to all of us to hear of Meav's departure but we all support her and will miss her dreadfully but it is her decision and we all have to respect that. On a personal note, I will miss Meav as a colleague and a friend and wish her the very best in her solo work and look forward to working with her in the future.

On the other hand, I have worked with Lynn before and she is a wonderful girl both professionally and personally and I'm really excited about welcoming her into our Celtic Woman Family.
Once again, your support and belief in us never ceases to amaze me. I look forward to seeing you all in the good ol USA very soon!

Have to say I'm missing STARBUCKS. It's not half as good here!!!!

For those of you who live in the US and are interested by Méav's solo shows, she is going to do a total of 5 gigs this season. The first one is in New York on December 14, 2007 and tickets will be available on the 29th of October on Ticketmaster. More info on Méav's official forum.

Interestingly - but not surprisingly -, Méav is promoted in the US as 'Méav of Celtic Woman'.

Yes, Nicola, that's one of her albums, however, if I am not wrong, that's a compilation of her work with Anúna, so, that's very different from her Celtic Woman work. Her other solo albums are closer to what you may hear in CW, but they are rather peculiar too: she centers herself in the more classical-like side of the traditional and medieval music, I love it, but I admit it's a much more obscure and harder to like genre than pure Celtic or Classical Crossover. A New Journey is definately her brightest and more varied work and the one most likely to gbe liked.

Meav fans, of which I am one, will be happy to know that Meav's new venture-"The Divinas" with two other international singers Yulia and Rita was a smashing success when it was filmed in France last month. We all look forward to the ensuing PBS broadcast of this wonderful concert, the DVD version, and most excitingly- the possibility of the "Divinas" touring the US next year sometime. Yeah Meav!!!

Yes it was Yulia Townsend. The Rita is from Israel.

From what I know of the postings in the CW forum and the official "Meav" forum....a DVD is likely. Not sure about the exact date, though. The moment it comes out I will be one of the first-you can bet on that. I think it's also up in the air about the PBS airing of this too. The concert was specifically filmed with this in mind, I understand. Can hardly wait!
