PS: I now see Richard mentioned this earlier today in another thread... I can see we are going to have a lot of trouble avoiding duplication - or having to put up with it - while we have two "CW" threads going in different boards! Hello Dave! I doubt if Hayley will join Celtic Woman as anything other than an occasional guest, so this thread should remain for general discussion about them. The article mentions a Christmas album to be released before the Slane Castle concert with Hayley is shown on TV, so I would say it belongs in both threads. It's only a little article anyway! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Best Wishes, Richard

Hello everybody! Sheridan Morley played Celtic Woman's version of 'She Moved Through The Fair' on BBC Radio 2's 'Melodies For You' last night, and the arrangement reminded me of 'Carmina Burana'. You can listen to a clip from this and a few other songs on Celtic Woman's web site:- celticwoman.com/viewSection.asp?idSection=189&id=multimediaBest Wishes, Richard

Hello everybody! Now the new Celtic Woman sub-boards are operational, I have moved this thread from the 'Other Music' board so it doesn't get forgotten. Richard

Thanks Richard but you're too late - I had already forgotten! I can forget quicker than most people you know! So it was Oksy who first mentioned CW here. Maybe that's where Hayley got the idea from! Roger

Hi all, Did anyone watch the figure skating gala after the Winter Olympics closing ceremony? The japanese skater was skating to "You Raise Me Up" and the vocal sounds remarkably like Lisa Kelly's, can anyone confirm it's really her? The commentator on CBC said it's Josh Groban but he was clearly mistakened. It's a great show with amazing performances by the skaters and good selection of music, from Lara Fabian to Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli. Too bad I ran out of HD space after the ceremony and couldn't record it Just a thought, wouldn't it be nice if Hayley's music is featured in some of the olympics skates? Looking forward to that in the 2010 winters game in Vancouver. Allen In answer to this question, Yes the skater performed to CW for the olympic skating. www.lisakelly.org had a copy of the skate before it was closed for renovation. You might want to contact the webmaster there and find out where she got the copy of the skate from or if she'll pass it on for anyone who wants to see the performance.

Celtic Woman impresses world, not Irish
Thursday Sep 28 15:25 AEST They all sing, they all play an instrument or they're all dancers and that's why Ireland isn't as impressed with new vocal group Celtic Woman as the rest of the world.
Despite international acclaim, a sold-out tour and impressive sales, the six female vocalists still haven't managed to capture the same level of success in their homeland.
Following in the musical footsteps of Riverdance and Enya, Celtic Woman has enjoyed a quick ascent to stardom since the release of a self-titled debut album, which came out in Australia last month.
The corresponding DVD neared gold after just one week, but the Irish have been much harder to win over. "(Ireland has) a very musical culture, so it's very much what we're used to ... we all sing, we all play an instrument or we all dance, it's no big deal to get up and sing here," Celtic Woman vocalist Lisa Kelly said.
"It's what Irish people are used to."
Celtic Woman has been labelled the world's newest music sensation and their album recently broke the record for the longest stint atop the Billboard World Music Chart.
The group came together in 2004 through composer David Downes, for what they thought would be a one-off show for a local television station.
But requests for appearances snowballed after the screening and the group decided to make Celtic Woman permanent.
Kelly says the world's fascination with traditional Celtic music is not surprising.
"Irish music tends to be music that people can relate to, songs that are about the land, about love, about family, so it's something that sort of touches a chord with everybody," Kelly said,
And a lack of whirlwind success at home in Ireland has its advantages, like not being noticed on the street, she said.
"It's great, because it's been quite uncontained outside our home country.
"You still come back here to the ordinary grind."
Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration will be released in October.

The show has always been based around 5 girls. This is not changing and we believe that Hayley & Meav alternating will add a new dimension and freshness to the show.

Hello xcv461! Your post is in the correct thread for when Hayley is not with Celtic Woman, but it's in the wrong thread when Hayley is with them. I'll leave it where it is! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifModerating can be fun, sometimes! Richard

Hello Bob! You have to be logged in to Facebook to see it. This is what it says: I know nothing about this, and I don't believe it! Richard Wilson Given the way Hayley described the Celtic Woman experience in 'In Her Own Voice' there are many reasons to doubt that she would re-join Celtic Woman. Celtic Woman is a big machine and those tours were run like military operations. The individual singers are only a tiny piece of the puzzle and there's not much room for individuality. I think that's what Hayley struggled with when she toured with them. She's used to setting her own pace and rules as a solo artist at small shows, but with a big touring organisation like Celtic Woman it's their way or the highway. The only reason I could see Hayley changing her view on this is the passage of time and a bit more age better equipping her for the demands of such a thing. And I suppose the financial security and the opportunity to perform live regularly would be an appealing aspect. I mean, if Hayley rejoined Celtic Woman then she could do more concerts in a fortnight than she does in a whole a year normally. With all the famous members gone (aside from Máiréad)they would probably recompense Hayley handsomely to rejoin and give her a lot of publicity. But I suspect this would be the kind of decision that Hayley would make only if there wasn't a better option in terms of her solo career. For example, if Decca were to leave Hayley treading water until they've finished with KJ's relaunch, then there's worse things Hayley could do than take up a short term touring obligation with Celtic Woman. So it's not that ridiculous, I guess. But all I can say is that unless that fellow has special insider information, it's hard to believe he would know before us! I suspect he may have got his wires crossed with some of the old articles about Hayley joining them back in 2006? Surely all the Celtic Woman forums would have grasped onto this by now if it's true. The only thing that is happening is that Lisa Lambe is taking a leave of absence and Lynn Hillary is rejoining the group to fill the gap for a while.

Hi Jillian, I think that you have the answer, that he has his wires crossed between Hilary and Hayley! BobS Edit: I now see that he has admitted that he made a mistake, and that it should have been Lynn Hilary, not Hayley.

I find CW way too confusing these days. I barely know any of the members anymore, and now all of a sudden one of them is already leaving, and an old member is temporarily (?) returning.. They'll have to come up with something good, and some stand out singers for my [somewhat mild] interest in them to be renewed.
Jillian, I know a huge reason for Hayley to never actually rejoin them: being away from home, even her "second" home, for weeks on end! I wouldn't be against a one-time cast reunion type thing, but I would be completely horrified if she ever actually rejoined them for any length of time, anytime soon. One of the reasons she didn't stay with them was so she could stay more independent, and yet here we are, 7 years later, still waiting for her individuality to be released to the public! I think I'll tear my hair out if the next album is another suppression of the "real" Hayley. And I don't care if that sounds drastic, as some people might say. Anything to do with Hayley's album releases these days is a highly emotional subject. I could go from being positively elated or horribly disappointed at her next album release. I doubt I'll actually be horribly disappointed, but I don't even want to be a little disappointed. I've been disappointed since River of Dreams was announced, as much as I love Songbird and Majesty. Songbird, at least could have been reserved for a "real" album.

I think that their last album of re-records lacked imagination. However, I think they still are doing quite well on the tour circuit. What I meant was more that if Hayley didn't have anything else to do, temporarily touring with them wouldn't be the worst thing. For example, a fair bit of the bulk of Hayley's touring in the past few years has been as a guest of Andre Bocelli and as a part of the David Foster & Friends Tour. Before it got cancelled, Hayley was going to do that Nights on Broadway tour. Not really that different when you think about it. Oh yes, I completely agree about the album thing. I will actually lose my mind if the next album is piece of cynically contrived Decca fluff. But I honestly believe it won't be. I really, really doubt Hayley would allow them to do that to her again.

hypothetically speaking, because this discussion started because of an error elsewhere.
Her time in Celtic Woman did Hayley no harm, I was a member on the old Official Forum at the time "Journey" was recorded at Slane and released on DVD and CD and the amount of members from the USA was quite significant, many of those people became fans of Hayley's solo albums and work after her time with Celtic Woman.
I think the discipline of dancing to someone else's tune and an enforced timetable might do her no harm for a while. Nor would she have to be bothering with travel arrangements, just be at the bus on time.
