Heavenly singers with the X-factor - here is your chance to become a real-life angel and take to the stage alongside a classical super group this summer.

The Western Daily Press is offering one talented teenage female vocalist the chance of a lifetime to perform with the popular quartet All Angels at the sixth annual Prom on The Close, in Bristol.

We are calling on the West's best young classical singers to come forward and compete to be the fifth member of the group for one night only.

The Prom, headlined by world- acclaimed tenor Russell Watson, will be held on July 7 in the picturesque setting of one of Bristol's leading independent schools, Clifton College.

The competition is open to girls between 13 and 18, and auditions take place at the college on May 5. Fittingly, the audition piece is Robbie Williams' smash hit Angels, which is part of the All Angels repertoire.

Six finalists will be selected and the final auditions will take place during the week of June 11, broadcast every night on ITV West for viewers to vote for the overall winner.

James Hills, head of music at Clifton College, will be chairing the judging panel. "We anticipate that this will be a very popular opportunity for young singers across the West," he said. "We can assure the girls the auditions will be a fun and light-hearted process, but we will be looking for a magical spark in the voice of our fifth angel and we are very excited to begin the search."

Aged 16 to 18, All Angels have been praised for bringing a "fresh sound and a bright new look" to classical music, with a repertoire spanning from Delibes' Flower Duet and Schubert's Ave Maria, to the Robbie Williams hit.

The four girls were selected after a nationwide search of schools, choirs and music schools. Although all four are experienced choirgirls, their backgrounds and interests could not be more different.

Charlotte Ritchie played a Hogwarts pupil in the last Harry Potter film while multi-lingual Melanie Nakhla is training for her pilot's licence.

Daisy Chute released her own solo jazz album when she was just 15 and Laura Wright is a keen sportswoman, but also the reigning BBC Radio 2 Chorister of the Year.

Melanie said: "We're really looking forward to singing at the Prom on The Close in Bristol, and it will be lots of fun to perform one of our numbers with someone new.

"We'll have some rehearsal time beforehand, so will be able to make friends and put our fifth Angel at ease."

This year there will also be performances by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Nick Davies, the Clifton College choir and musicians and, for the first time, the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fly-past.

All Angels and Russell Watson are the latest in a line of high-calibre stars who have performed at the college's prom.

In the past Aled Jones, Lesley Garrett and Jose Carreras, one of the Three Tenors, have attracted thousands of music fans.

And the fifth Angel has been named. As posted by "classicgrace" over at the All Angels Forum, Rebecca Hutter has been chosen by popular vote.

Rebecca, from Bristol, will perform with All Angels on 7 July at the Prom on the Close, at Clifton College in Bristol.
