We have broken another record and achieved a new milestone in HWI forum history. During the month of June, which is not yet over, more members have posted than during any other calendar month since the forum was launched. The previous record was 88 in December 2007. So far this month, posts have been made by 101 members! Three days to go. Would anyone who hasn't yet posted since 1st June care to make it 102? Well done everyone and let's continue to show our support for Hayley. Roger

I'm sure the actual number of visitors is somewhat higher because I frequently use the computer at my library to surf the net (the connection is so much faster) and I usually leave the page open to HWI's forum when I take off instead of closing it out, so that the next person will have no choice but to encounter this forum! That should count for something!

Wow, thats a great achievement. How is that counted? Presumably what is counted is accesses to the home page. In which case returning to the home page after viewing one of the others might count as another visit! I'm sure it isn't the number of different people who have visited - since I don't know how you would identify the ones who don't login. Even if you tried to do it by IP address, you would still get it wrong where more than one person had used the same computer, or for people like me who use several different computers. Not trying to be critical in any way, it is a fine achievement by everyone, but I was just wondering how you know!

A quarter of a million! Hi Roger Wasn't that one of your predictions for 2008? I've been keeping my eye on the counter for a few days now and guessed it would hit the 'biggie' around now. Well done everyone and well done Roger and the management team for doing such a grand job. Best wishes Grant

Hi Steve and Martin, As you suspect, there are a number of reasons why the stats counter is higher than it should be and, at the same time, a number of reasons why it is lower than it should be. No stats counter is ever scientifically accurate but it is the only indicator we have and the assumption is that the inaccuracies cancel themselves out (more or less) and so it gives a fairly reliable trend. Presumably what is counted is accesses to the home page. In which case returning to the home page after viewing one of the others might count as another visit! No Martin. The stats counter has a 12-hour window and so any returning visitors within that timescale would not be counted more than once. Only if you visit more than 12 hours after your previous visit would you be counted again. But, as you suggest, if you visit from a different computer, that would count you as a *new* visitor. Thanks for the screenshot Joe. From that, it looks as though you could have been our 250,000th visitor! Roger

Hi Grant, Wasn't that one of your predictions for 2008? I can't remember but, if you say so, I am more than willing to take the credit for getting something right! I now predict that we will see 250,010 before the night is over. See? I got that one right too! Roger
