Some bad news regarding Virgin Digital in the US: Virgin Kills US Music Subscriptions
'Tough luck if you were subscribing to Virgin Digital music, as the company is shelving their US operations and giving users some free Napster content instead. If you're one of the affected, you can grab your free Napster player and three free months of Napster To Go service as a consolation prize.
Both Napster and Virgin used the PlaysForSure, a spec Microsoft may or may not continue to support in the future, thanks to its own competing Zune DRM. If we had to choose a service now, we'd probably go for Apple's iTunes, Rhapsody (with Sansa), or Microsoft's Zune, but only the latter two have subscription plans.' www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/portable-media/virgin-kills-us-music-subscriptions-226504.phpIts not looking good for my Napster subscription if Microsoft stop supporting it . Duh!!

Hi guys, Any more discussion about digital stuff or Virgin would be better done in a new "All Angels - Where to Buy" thread or off topic (if it's about digital music generally). I did download Songbird the single from 7digital (who have new tracks available from midnight on release morning - way before iTunes etc.) but I will only buy albums in CD format. I still enjoy the All Angels album very much whenever I play it (last night!). Cheers, Dave

Sorry Dave, I was just pointing out that the subscription route to music (of which I got All Angels) may not be such a good idea in the long term. I may have to buy the album after all.

Thanks for the waning Jon about itunes proprietory controls. Like Dave, for the same reasons, I shall probably stick with CDs and just make sure I have a device (which in fact I have but is a little clumsy sizewise) to be portable, but of course CDs are themselves bulky.
Cancelling out the disadvantage of digital downloads vis-a-vis CDs, there isn't any reason why, either as part of, or for the additional cost of a track, the pdf file of the cover blurb and booklet should not also be downloadable. The software required for printing can easily be a 'pdf' format, so no extra work is in fact required. However, there could be a disadvantage. One of the tell-tale signs of a fraudulent CD is the lack of printing quality. Why then give them the electronic master? Peter S.

How very interesting that Virgin should be pulling out of digital direct supply in the US.
Perhaps digital isn't all its cracked up to be?

Argh, I'm just going to stick with CDs. Reliable. Unless I had a fire. Now, that would be devastating as I have over 500 CDs img301.imageshack.us/img301/8263/dsc01187vm6.jpgYou should see Hayley's CDs at the beginning of the second row. First row is dominated by Sarah Brightman, Keedie and Emma Shapplin. I just don't like the idea of buying things digitally. I use my stereo far too much. I don't invest £300 on my CD player so I can play things on my computer... duh.

Oh dear! Dave's post seems to have been overlooked. Could I please remind everybody that this thread is for reviews of All Angels' album, not for discussion about digital downloading. Many thanks, Richard

I just got my CD from Amazon Uk. It only took 8 days to get to New Zealand. The album hasn't been released in NZ yet. After only one listening so far, I think I have fallen in love with them and their music.I hope they produce a lot more albums.

Hi Ross,
I am pleased you like the album. We are expecting a second one at some point later this year but no specific time has yet been suggested.
Roger

Hi Graham,
You are in for a treat when 'Into Paradise' arrives, in my opinion it is as good as if not better than the first album, though a few of the songs on the special edition 'Sancte Deus (Nimrod)', 'Make Me A Channel of Your Peice' and 'Pie Jesu' are also on 'Into Paradise'
