...celebrating in Soho! "Birthday girl's bash a touch of pure class 06 April 2005
Christchurch singer Hayley Westenra will be celebrating her 18th birthday with a star-studded bash in London.
Westenra will turn 18 on Monday and will mark the occasion with a party at the Soho Lounge in London's West End.
The bar – formerly a music venue, Gossips Nightclub – holds 200 people and boasts "cool, sleek, and stylish decor, and gives off a bohemian vibe".
Westenra's record company said the "glitterati of the arts world" would attend the party, which would double as a celebration of the success of Westenra's first international album, Pure. The record has just topped two million sales. "
I'd love to be a fly on the wall (better still, a guest, lol) at that party! Full details here at Stuff.nz.

...exactly the same as she was the day before! Hello folks, it's me again! I'm sure turning 18 won't change Hayley the slightest bit, but if the right people meet her at her birthday party her career could move into overdrive! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI would also love to be a fly on the wall, but I'm going to respect Hayley's privacy, so I won't be lurking around outside. I expect the press will be there, so we'll probably read all about it in due course. I've just realised, if Hayley's big bash is on Monday it's the day after her birthday, so she's probably going to spend a quiet day with her family and close friends on Sunday. I hope Hayley likes her present from HWI! Only 4 days to go!Bye for now, Richard

Yeah its funny because they are saying its going to be her birthday on Monday but thats the 11th. Maybe she will have 2 birthdays like you say,a quiet one with family and friends then the big bash the day after. It seems like Decca are organising the party on Monday, its a good time to tie it with the dvd being released in the UK on the same day, and Im sure it will give Hayley some great coverage. I wonder who the guests are going to be, anyone get an invite? Emmett.

Its a bit surprsing that they gave out the details of the venue, I wonder do much of the media in the UK know about it or will some New Zealand press turn up. Maybe Decca want to get as much publicity as possible. Hopefully Hayley has a great time at it and for her birthday on Sunday, and most important she has the HWI present to open. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifEmmett.

Especially the "Maybe Decca want to get as much publicity as possible." Oh, and the birthday present bit, too! I'm sure Hayley won't do a "[insert almost any famous teen's name here]" so any publicity should be good. Hayley's been so far below the radar in the UK for the last year, that Decca need to start gearing up the PR machine for her new album NOW. An 18th birthday party and simultaneous DVD release should make the perfect start... if anyone sees any Decca adverts for Hayley over the next week in the UK, please post about it!

Hello again Emmett and Dave! I noticed a small item in this week's "Hello" magazine that said Joss Stone will be 18 on 11th April, the day after Hayley. Personally I find Joss's voice and music far too aggressive for my taste, but she seems to have a higher profile than Hayley in the media here at the moment, possibly because she comes from Devon. Perhaps by holding Hayley's big do on Monday, Decca are trying to swing the balance in Hayley's favour, and it could also be a launch party for the DVD. I hope Hayley has a good time on both Sunday and Monday, and I bet she won't be suffering from a hangover on Tuesday. Some of us will, because we'll be drowning our sorrows as we didn't get an invite! Less than three days to Hayley's birthday on Sunday! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard

Hi,
Joss Stones music not my cup of tea aswell, the music is very laid back I think, but unfortunately alot of the UK public seem to like this style or maybe its featured in the media alot.
Its the kind of music that has a much larger audience than classical / crossover, so all the attention goes on that type of music.
As I have sid before, hopefully Hayleys party in Soho and the dvd launch give her some good press and create awarness of the dvd.
Emmett.

Seems Hayleys offical site doesnt even mention its her birthday today, so I had to give them a reminder in the guestbook.
But fair play over at the German site they actually give it a mention with a scrolling message.
'Hayley feiert am Sonntag, 10. April ihren 18. Geburtstag. Alles Gute zum Geburtstag - Hayley!'

...enjoying her lovely gifts from HWI !
That bracelet that was given to Hayley at Classicalive is really stunning!!! Let's hope that her party in the West End will be very exciting for her and that Decca will have many influential people attend the party.
