Odyssey will be released in Germany on April 15th 2006 and is yet another version that is considerably different from the original. It seems to include one or two tracks first heard on some later editions of "Pure" . It has also been updated with Hayley's most recent recordings including the new UK tracks and I Say Grace from the US version. Apparently... there is a full length version of "Down to the River" on the three track bonus DVD! The track listing is on Hayley's official German website and there are some news items there too.. in German. I've read them in Google Translate but... where are our erudite German members when you need them? Here is the tracklisting, this looks very interesting! Dave

Hi Dave, Many thanks for your information Re: German Edition of 'Odyssey'. Now you've got me started... Well, you asked for it I'm very intrigued to hear that the "Bonus DVD" includes a "full-length" version of 'Down to the River to Pray' ... Hmm... My powers or reckoning tell me that if that's the case, Hayley must have recorded that song with Elim Gospel Choir/ another Gospel Choir on another occasion If a longer version of the song which appears on the 'Live from NZ' DVD is available elsewhere, I am absolutely delighted to hear it! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I do find it very hard to believe that it won't be the same recording as the one from the 'Live from NZ' DVD though. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifDave, I am not for one minute doubting your words, (OR your proficiency in German translation!) but do you not think that it would be more logical for a few of the tracks from the 'Live from NZ' DVD to have been included with the German Edition of 'Odyssey' as a means of marketing that particular DVD at the same time? Personally, I would have thought so. I guess all good things are worth waiting for... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifWe'll have to wait and see... Regards, Andrew

Hi Dave, For my money, most of the tracks marked "Exklusiv" won't be by the time it is released. As you know, 'Scarborough Fair' and 'The Water Is Wide' will be on the UK SE (which comes out first), 'O Mio' is already on the original UK edition and the 'Both Sides Now' DVD is on the HK edition. That just leaves 'Mary Did You Know' which may be new to Odyssey but it appears on at least three versions of Pure and on My Gift To You. I know it is a favourite of Hayley's, but has she really recorded it yet again? Never mind, I'll put it on my wish list anyway! Roger

I don't know what the German news articles say as I haven't read a sensible translation of them yet! I suppose the other two bonus DVD tracks could be from the main DVD or be existing or new promo tracks - as could Down to the River. But if DTTR is the gospel medley from the DVD, the official tracklisting is wrong, as it doesn't say that! As for "Exklusiv" Roger, well that's what the website says so it MUST be right. Right? Cheers, Dave

Hi Everyone,
I use this site (http://www.freetranslation.com/) to translate the passage. I think the translation is okay.
For some weeks Hayley is hurried with Divo on tour. The operas star formation wished for Hayley very specially as a guest and were the first concerts in North America and Canada a full success. On the planned world tour, it will sing before more than 300,000 persons and will come also to Germany naturally as of the end of April.
"I am now since some shows at the same time and find it tremendously", Hayley says and laughs. "The boys of Divo hurried very friendlily received me, they are really nice and sing fantastically. I am certain, there will be in the public a couple of women, that are envious on me. To be sure they have probably no idea, that my volumes that consist Crew and the entire team exclusively of men. I would wish for actually a company little more feminine."
And as the tour just started, concerned singer Hayley once again into the studio, some new up to take. On the EXCLUSIVE German album version of ODYSSEY, they are to be heard. "I wished, I would have this singe already earlier received.", tells Hayley. "Scarborough fair" moved would widen" have unusually, the title "The Water Is Wide, my own stamp pressed me - I play even piano in addition and "O Mio Babbino Caro" is simply beautiful, sad and sublime at the same time." In addition the new album contains a bonus DVD with a previously not yet published video to "Both Sides Now". The German Edition of ODYSSEY appears Music on the 15 April 2006 in universally.
It is simply incredibly exciting for Hayley in the last months: President George first sings it before the English queen, the English prime minister Tony Blair and the US bush, then in so famous houses as well as the Carnegie hall, the Sydneys Opera or the Royal Albert hall and goes also yet on world tour. We wish further much success!

Wonder if it's the same video of Both Sides Now we've seen on the official website or it'll be a new version? Looking forward to hear a studio version of "Down to the River". Allen

Thanks for that translation Raymond! It gave me a good laugh, but I could understand it perfectly. It's been translated one word at a time, so several words are in the wrong order, and a few may have been missed. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

where are our erudite German members when you need them? Dave All right, Dave! I got the message ... Here is the translation of the news item on Hayley's German website (The style in which it is written is - let's say: improvable. So here and there I have made a few insertions in brackets for a better understanding.): "For a few weeks Hayley has been on tour with Il Divo. The operatic star formation has particularly wished for Hayley as a guest (performer) and the first concerts have been a tremendous success. On the scheduled world tour she will sing in front of over 300,000 people and, of course (she will) also come to Germany beginning at the end of April. "'I have been along to several shows now, and I think it's great,' Hayley says and laughs. 'The guys of Il Divo have accepted me very friendly, they are really nice and their singing is fantastic. I am sure there are some women in the audience that envy me. But they probably don't realize that my band, the crew, and the whole team consist only of men. Actually, I would welcome some more female company.' "Just when the tour was starting, Hayley went to the studio once more to record a few new songs. 'I wished I had recorded these songs earlier,' Hayley tells. '"Scarborough Fair" touches me enormously, and on the piece "The Water Is Wide" I have left a personal mark - I accompany it myself on the piano, and "O Mio Babbino Caro" is simply beautiful, sad and elevated at the same time.' "In addition, the new album contains a bonus DVD with a previously unreleased video of 'Both Sides Now.' The German Edition of Odyssey will be released on April 15, 2006, by Universal Music. "It has simply been incredibly exciting for Hayley during the past months. First, she sings in front of the Queen of England, British prime minister Tony Blair, and U.S. president George Bush, then (she performs) in famous places such as the Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera or the Royal Albert Hall and (after that, she) embarks on a world tour as well. "We continue to wish you lots of success!" Kind regards, Holger Erudite German

The automatic translation software may be able to give a rough idea what was written but some of the phrases they come up with are very strange and make me laugh. I don't think human translators will be under threat from the computers for a long time yet! Cheers, Dave

Hey everyone!
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but nobody in this thread got back about the DVD material. Is anything different on this version? Song and DVD material wise? I was looking on eBay and saw a copy. Thanks for the help! Alicia
