Wow, Hayley sounds incredible! I really think Hayley's talent is best showed in songs like this, "Pokarekare Ana" etc. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif This song alone should give "Odyssey" the boost it needs to get up in the charts! About the clip though... whoever made it wasn't to smart, no offense, lol. I mean the put the full piano intro and just 20 seconds of Hayley's voice.

Thanks sal, this is an interesting move by Decca for Hayley. The Water is Wide will be released on March 27th as a UK digital single - two weeks before the album from which it is taken. It will be interesting to see if Hayley gets any airplay from this which is, judging by the short clip, going to be a lovely recording. I guess I'll have to start a thread about it now, in the Singles board! Cheers, Dave

Hi classicgerace.
But isn't that 'minimalism' of Hayley's audio clip enough to make you want to get hold of your own copy, which perhaps is why that was done?
More prosaically, space allows only a certain clip size and time only the easiest way of doing anything, so starting at the beginning (usually a very good place to start) it ran until its quota caused a cut. Doubtless done by a web master responding to an administrative direction as opposed to a studio man preparing the take for the web. Disappointing but then is the site to entertain or to sell?
Unintentionally, perhaps, you raise some serious questions. What is the purpose of Hayley's official site?
Were I running her official site I would: 1. advertise her current releases--no more than a reminder is required as we all know from where we can buy them, but I wold provide track listing for the various 'local' editions and define the official geographical area where they are available.
2. Advertise her concerts. Here I would ensure there were links straight to each venue's official box office, especially their web site.
3. Clips, like the one you highlight, would provide full chronology for when, where and how a full recording can be obtained.
Some of these things, at great effort by our stalwart unpaid 'techie/admin' team we of course provide here--the best site for Hayley Westenra fans throughout the world!!!
But our people are second guessing. I recall Roger's bleat of despair when another concert he had taken trouble over to advertise and provide links for, crashed through cancellation. But I'll deal with the cancellation scenario on a thread linked to that.
For now, as so often seems to happen, Hayley is caught between conflicting inputs any one of which can jinx the whole. The problem will only be unlocked when Hayley solely (and in that I mean of course her management team that support her) have absolute control.
In other words, this is the learning period in preparation for the next long-term contract and we just have to 'go along' with what is the arrangements that are in place at the moment.

Hmm, I still like fifteen year old Charlotte Church's version, though her voice then was clearly being hurt by nodes and stuff. There's more emotion in hers.

Hi Terri, Many thanks for directing us to the clip on ClassicalX. For some reason, I have never really liked that song but I fully expect that is about to change once Hayley's version is heard in full. Welcome to the forum and I look forward to reading your future posts. Best wishes, Roger

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Roger I agree, it's a song I'm not fond of either, but we all know Hayley could sing her shopping list and make it sound absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to hear the full version, a clip is never enough.

Thank you terri and welcome to the forum!
The sample on ClassicalX is much better than the one on the official site. Hayley's voice is beautiful as usual, looking forward to the new edition of the album.
Just wondering, what's the usual in store price for a CD in UK? Not sure why, the import CDs at amazon.ca tends to be 3-4x more expensive than local ones in store.
