Classic FM TV in the UK are currently showing TWO promotional videos by Hayley - What you Never Know (International/UK album version) and Both Sides Now. As neither are currently confirmed as singles, I've started this thread in the Odyssey board. The good news is... finally, I have managed to see and record both these videos First, Both Sides Now is here for a few days. I will upload WYNK later today. I've said a few times that I wasn't keen on BSN being on Odyssey but I have to say, a few weeks on and especially after seeing this video, I've changed my mind. This is, IMHO, an EXCELLENT video and it would support a single well - if they ever release one. It seems to be a very personal song for Hayley, you can see in the video why she loves it. I LIKE it! Cheers, Dave PS Gerrit if you read this, do you think it's a good one for permanent hosting?

Hello Dave! That is an excellent video of "Both Sides Now", really tastefully done, and well worth hosting permanently, please Gerrit! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI think I recognise the statue of the horses, so I'm fairly certain the video was filmed around Piccadilly Circus. Best Wishes from London, Richard

I distinctly remember Dave being the one who said there shouldn't be a Both Sides Now video, or was it not? Heh.
Either way, I love the colors in the video.

I distinctly remember Dave being the one who said there shouldn't be a Both Sides Now video, or was it not? Heh. Either way, I love the colors in the video. Heh indeed... but I didn't say that, I said a lot more! I didn't think BSN should be on Odyssey (it's overdone); I didn't think it should be released as a single (when it was mooted as one); I didn't like the 30 second clip of the video on the Official site (boring - but read on!). But I've always acknowleged that this seems to be a "special song" for Hayley - as is Wuthering Heights - and that it's to her credit that she fights for "her" songs to be included - sometimes against the commercial advisors and fans who would complain... like me. Paradoxically, the fact that Hayley fights her corner like this is one of the reasons that I *am* a fan! With WH, I never did change my mind about the inadvisability of including it on "Pure" - and especially, about the proposed single release. However, when the video came out, it was stunning and I *almost* changed my mind. But... Kate Bush is not only a legend in her own lifetime but also, in her own career - she may have been slumbering at the time but now, she is wide awake. Hayley would have had much criticism from radio presenters (actually, this happened anyway) and this would have worked against its chances of making the singles charts. Some of these points apply to BSN, but Joni and her song are from further back in time and it is not as strongly associated with her own performance of it as WH is with Kate (who is still very much around!). Others have released it successfully, too. I initially thought that if released as a single, BSN would have a better chance of success than WH although WH *may have* made the charts, had it been released in the UK. Over the last couple of months, Hayley's BSN has grown on me. I think she identifies personally with the lyrics and that helps. But then, I saw the 30 second video clip. "How boring!" I thought, assuming the rest of it would be like the first 30 seconds. How wrong could I be! The complete video is nothing like the clip, Decca should remove the clip immediately and replace it by the full video - which is simply astounding. It makes the song so "Hayley" that this video could also transform the prospects of BSN being a hit single, if released. I love it! I think this is possibly the best promo video Hayley has ever made, rivalling, and in certain respects beating, the Pokare Ana video. But... there's no sign at the moment of *any* single being released. Why oh why do Decca keep producing these excellent videos then not releasing the singles? Pokarekare, WH and now... maybe... BSN. WHY???Dave

I think the video's great! It tells a story instead of just placing a song in a nice setting. And it would appeal to mainstream culture, both young and old. I love it! It would do wonderfully in the US and Canada.

Hello Someone! The video of "Both Sides Now" was definitely filmed around Piccadilly Circus in London, so it's a pity there isn't a shot of the statue of Eros. Eros is like Cupid, so it would have fitted into the story perfectly, but instead they showed a sculpture of some horses, which is only about 50 yards away! Best Wishes, Richard

I have just seen some photos of the statue of Eros on the internet. I agree with you Richard. There should be a shot of it.
